I'm sure they're aware of it, especially since I sent them one of mine several years ago on which the top strap had failed. They replaced the gun and said the failure was due to microscopic casting flaws.

I've been a member on the Gunslinger forum for many years, an admin there for the last few, I'm a frequent flyer at Rimfire Central and here, along with a few other gun forums, and in all those years I haven't read a single instance of a catastrophic frame failure other than mine. But the fact that it did happen, and for the reason given by the manufacturer, tends to make me leery of physically modifying the frame for any reason.

Received a letter from Heritage Arms today. It stated they received my firearm and the processing time for replacement should be around 14 days. I can live with that better than the 12 weeks that Taurus Int told me.

Finally!!! Just received this from Heritage Firearms via messenger....Currently at this time the firearm is going to be replaced. Please have the dealer to fax the FFL to 305-624-1126 or [email protected]. Please include the service order number 72XXXX. They WILL NOT send it directly to me as per §478.147 Return of firearm legally allows. My FFL says he has fought with them about this and has had enough of Taurus problems and has begun to clear his shelves of Taurus items and will not sell any more of them....including Rossi, Heritage Arms and Diamondback.

They have had enough legal trouble to last two corporate lifetimes. Good news that you are getting a new gun.

Thanks....problem is, others like myself have bought a G2c and can not say enough good things about the firearm. Most of the newer firearms are coming out of Taurus very dependable...the problems are with rude customer service reps or not enough knowledge about the products or firearms in general ....and poor repair organization leading to a ridiculous turn around repair time.

I think Taurus have improved in recent years. I traded for a Taurus ( Model 84 from the 70s) to see if the Taurus bashers were as wrong as the Hi-Point bashers were about my good and reliable C9 Hi-Point. They were so I bought a new TCP several years ago but it had a small issue when new and it took them 7 weeks to fix it and it now works very well. I then bought a PT111 G2 that has never had an issue of any kind and is cosmetically great. I then bought a hammerless polished stainless 605 used because it is no longer made polished and hammerless. It looks and shoots like new (if you buy a 357 Magnum snub nose, the odds are it will have been shot very little because of the cost of ammo and it is not fun to shoot). Since I was so happy with my first 4, I recently bought a 856 that is very well made with no imperfections I could see. It shoots very well and is surprisingly accurate for me.

As I have bought more Taurus handguns, they seem to be getting better cosmetically and none of them seem to have any other issues. I've had a case hardened finish Rough Rider since 2013 that shoots and looks new.

Why are people so dissatisfied with Taurus/Heritage manufacture? Here is a good example...I have a Rough Rider in for a factory defect that makes it necessary to replace my gun. I have the TALO Flag grips on the one in for replacement and none are avail, so the CS rep says firearm maintenance has my replacement on back order. WTH??? Why cann't the old revolver grips be removed and installed on the new firearm? Candice from Customer Service, has been so helpful today with checking this and that and trying to ask repair to do this for me. She can not get an answer from repair as to why this swap can not be done Also....I have even said I would take any grips on a 4.74 Rough Rider.....once again more idiotic replies form repair....We only have firearms with snake grips installed available, but don't think that can be done also. This is so absurd!!!

Only new firearms ready to ship with ONLY snake grips...what a load of Crap!!!

Hindsight says strip anything that you wish to save off the gun...sights, grip panels, etc before sending it in for repair. They won't replace any of those items if they decide they have to replace a gun and those things aren't needed to diagnose and/or repair a gun.
