Interesting Time AT CTD in McKinney TX

I went to the Cheaper Than Dirt in McKinney TX today near high noon. I was suprised with the large amount of people in the store. Most of them were buying long-term food supplies, ammo and other such items. Like they were stocking up. Maybe the "Doomsday Preppers" show is the cause, I don't know for sure. But CWD was low on ammo, more than usual.

Well, of course. By any chance, did you buy anything or otherwise notice if the prices had gone up compared to the recent catalog?? There was another thread about the prices in the March catalog already being 'out-of-date'.

Did you run by Cabela's in Allen or Ft. Worth and check on their ammo supply?

I can't believe I've never been by that store yet. Going to have to take a field trip sometime soon......

I think everybody looks at the Repub candidate that is currently in the lead and thinks "uh oh". Probably makes people feel better to go buy a few things they have been neglecting recently.

One thing for sure, folks are very concerned about the future, and mostly feel like it is the near future, the remainder of this year or very early into 2013.

I think political fears are about half of the worry, and the other half of the fears are that folks will need these arms and supplies.

Were one to survive any of the bad scenarios played out in all of the movies of the past 30 years, I imagine life after the event would be a B-----!

Can I run 5 miles in an hour, nope!

Still, I like all the firearm sales and ammo sales, not that all the bad people are aware of the arming up of America, but that it sends a statement to those on the other side that "No, You Can't!"

I was to busy loading up a couple years of food supplies, water filter's, 10,000 rds of 5.56, and hi-cap mags, to notice prices. Where's the geiger counters?

Actually, I was looking for a box of 9mm Rem Golden Sabre Bonded, 147 gr jhp, and Rem .45 230 jhp. I didn't notice a great jump in the price from the month before. I try to stop at CWD once a month to check out guns, and pick up a couple boxes of 9mm & .45. I usually don't go to Cabellas, - for no good reason.

I think some of this may be due to the TV show, and people believing that times will get tougher.

Have you checked out GT Distributors just off of 635 and Shiloh (off of Garland Ave Rt. 7 at the Garland - Dallas line? It is a police supply store.

I was there last week, and while the ammo inventory was low (except for lots of 5.56 in ammo cans and cases), they did have some high quality 9mm JHP and .45 JHP at very good prices.

All of the prepping is not going to save you or your family. Maintain a reasonable supply of provisions to see you through the short term. I could easily get by for a couple of months on what I have. Weather, disaster, whatever. If things did not get better by then, I don't who would want to live in a world like that. Let's live and enjoy life for what it is. Doomsday? Ba humbug! Live for today. I't all we really have.

Cabela's in Ft. Worth was stocked pretty well on ammo, at least as of Sunday.
