If it was'nt for guys like this. We would all be living like that. In the slums, facing daily attacks from worthless waists of skin. Hats off to one hell of a man.

It is obvious he is in a great deal of pain from the loss of his brothers, and probably physically from his wounds and injuries as well. I hope he finds some relief and lives a good long life and brings a lot more people like him into the world.

He also said something to the effect that it felt strange to get a medal for the worst day in his life.

He's the kind of person who rekindles hope that the American way of life and true American values aren't dead yet.

"Hand Salute" to you. I wish I could see the generals offer a salute to you, with your salute being the "return".

Thats a great story! I have a much more profound respect for those who served then anyone i know...and im not nearly the "most proud to be American" Shorlty after buying my first harley at age 18 was granted "life changing moment" which consisted of about 20 people on a 14 day road trip.Id say 1/2 or better at the itme where veit vets but one old school grizzled guy befriended me...he had served 3 tours as a "tunnel rat". I love my father for he is a great man in many ways..alas he was absent most of my childhood, that being said..i learned more from short time with this guy then i think i have any man. I made a major change shortly after and just in recent years give credit where it is due. I learned for the forst time that people where willing to give their lives for a greater cause and even a man with "everything" at home can put his life on the line for whats right. I was 18 when i realized the world was full of cowards but there where a few brave men who would sacrifice it all...god bless.
Now i respect anyone who serves...whether with a fuel hose or a rifle... but those who served in Nam have my deepest respect and apologies for coming home to a country that could not have been more ungratefull....if i had it my way all veit vets would live a life of luxory well deserved and payed for by the citizens of the United States!
