Resident takes out 2 armed intruders, neighbors holds a third at gunpoint

Great that the homeowner prevailed but in the story there's this:

Nocco said investigators asked the homeowner why he may have been targeted. He told them he posted a lot of photos of his guns on social media and that may have been the reason why. Nocco said he appears to know the intruders, but did not elaborate.

“This is not a total random situation,” he said.
Prevention is better than a shooting situation, if it can be prevented.

The intruder was wearing a mask, was dressed in dark clothing and was pointing a gun in the homeowner’s direction, Nocco said.

The homeowner fired on the intruder, who went down. The homeowner said he saw a second intruder who was also masked and pointing a gun in his direction. The homeowner fired on that person, who also collapsed.
The homeowner said he then saw a third armed intruder and fired at that person, who also went down. The homeowner’s gun then jammed, he said, so he got another gun. At that point, he said he saw the third intruder had left. The homeowner then got a call from a neighbor who said he was holding the third intruder at gunpoint, Nocco said.
Deputies were summoned to the home at about 12:45 a.m. The two intruders inside the home were pronounced dead at the scene. The third was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Social media and guns don't mix. Even the "Protected by Smith & Wesson" signs on a house are ridiculous.
“Historically, freedom is a rare and fragile thing . . . Freedom has cost the blood of millions in obscure places and in historic sites ranging from Gettysburg to the Gulag Archipelago . . .That something that cost so much in human lives should be surrendered piecemeal in exchange for visions and rhetoric seems grotesque. Freedom is not simply the right of intellectuals to circulate their merchandise. It is, above all, the right of ordinary people to find elbow room for themselves and a refuge from the rampaging presumptions of their ‘betters’.” Thomas Sowell

Those type of signs are meant to be hanging on the walls of a man cave. Anyone who posts them outside their house is asking for trouble.

It does sound like he made himself a target but I am glad that the bad guys lost !

"This is not a world in which one can turn the other cheek. Doing so does not avoid violence, but rather encourages it. The bad guys threaten, but they do not seem to want to get hurt. They should be taught that their presumed victim is more dangerous than they are. This is not a matter of weapons, but of will."
