    Took 2 liberals shooting today

My son went to school with a guy who is a liberal, he grew up that way and that's probably how he'll always be. My son called me last week and asked if we could go shooting with him, and his girlfriend. As it turns out, she's from New York City. When they got here I had the guns laid out and went over the 4 Cooper Rules, then told them the range safety rules, keeping the gun pointed downrange, all that stuff. We got to the range and I set up the lane and I supervised the shooting. I brought my Taurus model 66 loaded with some powderpuff 38 special loads, along with some 9mm and 45acp. The friend shot his, did well, then his girlfriend proceeded to pick up the same revolver and outshoot her boyfriend, which I informed her of. I love it when a liberal smiles that great big smile at a gun range. We shot for about an hour, they stuck with the revolvers and I told them next time they can graduate to semi-autos if they wanted to. They definitely said they wanted to.

I didn't get to shoot today but I think it was a win for everybody.

Congratulations on developing new 2nd Amendment proponents regardless of their political views. They need to start thinking of firearms as tools rather that something intrinsically evil which is probably what they've been taught to this point.
“Historically, freedom is a rare and fragile thing . . . Freedom has cost the blood of millions in obscure places and in historic sites ranging from Gettysburg to the Gulag Archipelago . . .That something that cost so much in human lives should be surrendered piecemeal in exchange for visions and rhetoric seems grotesque. Freedom is not simply the right of intellectuals to circulate their merchandise. It is, above all, the right of ordinary people to find elbow room for themselves and a refuge from the rampaging presumptions of their ‘betters’.” Thomas Sowell

Unfortunately, if the true "radical" libs continue to push their violent agenda. they may receive their "shooting lessons" whether they want it or not.

Not to create an argument but the definition of liberal is at question. While I think showing and explaining guns to people who do not own or maybe never desire to own a firearm is good, is liberal the proper description ? Are we speaking partisan politics...progressive nonsense we hear daily ? Seems if these were truly 'liberal' people, they would have never gone to the range.

    I'm glad it went well.

Well, let's see. The friend of my son was raised by lifetime Democrats, and he proudly declares support for Obama, Biden, whoever happens to be running for office with a 'D' after his or her name. Full support of Obamacare, and just about any other social or economic agenda item that comes down the pike. His girlfriend is from NYC and her relatives told her before coming to Texas that she should be really careful being around conservatives, because they'll try to get you to do crazy things like going to shoot guns.

The good thing about the kids these days is, they seem to be willing to give things a try instead of outright rejecting it just 'because'. My son was smart to look for an opportunity to get them to the range, and while I certainly don't agree with their politics, I didn't sit there and debate issues with them, I focused on gun safety and helping them do their best to punch holes in targets. They had fun, and I had fun watching them have fun. That's about all I can do, show them the practical side of shooting and hopefully when the issue comes up in their little liberal social circles, they can say honestly that they've been shooting and it's not the power-trip, elitist activity that their friends are trying to make them think it is.

I don't think a lot of people can tell the difference between a "liberal" and "progressive" and that's the problem. You could debate with a liberal. They may make you want to pull your hair out but at least they'd let you talk. Maybe even come out with a compromise that no ones happy with but everyone can live with. Kind of like Reagan and Tip O'Neal. With Progressives it's their way. No room for compromise. When I think of liberals. I think of Alan Dershowitz, Joe Lieberman, Sen. Jim Webb... guys I might disagree with on some issues but I thought loved the country. Progressives hate everything about America and want to tear it apart. They don't even pretend to support the constitution. Not one article or ammendment. I don't even know why I'm calling them by their preferred name "Progressives". Their nothing but communists. They may like socialist better but we all know a socialist is just a patient communist.

I can't tolerate liberals without drinking and I don't handle firearms when I drink, especially in the amount that I need to be around liberals.
