Round Lake Beach IL LEO Shot With Own Service Weapon

I've never worked LE, but have heard many times that domestic disturbances are some of the worst to respond to. Perp grabbed his pistol, couldn't get it out of the holster supposedly, shot the officer in the leg. That doesn't pass the smell test however as if the gun is still holstered, the trigger should have been covered.

I sure wish they would publish the holster brand/make as well as the sidearm this occurred with.

That is simply asking TOO MUCH of any J-school graduate.

It was hard enough for them to say "gun", and anything more is irrelevant to them.

Wow, I grew up a few blocks from there. Used to be on a first name basis with most of the two or three town cops. That was over 60 years ago though. I imagine most of them are retired by now.

Was also friends with the chief's son. One day he snuck pop's record books out of his home office. I still can't get some of those images out of my head.

True story, A guy I use to work with years ago has a BIL that I also knew as we went to school together only he was a year ahead of my. Anyway he became the Chief of Police for the City of Crystal Lake so you would think he would know and understand guns, right.

Well he was remodeling his raised range home basement and was putting up paneling on the knee walls and topping it off with solid boards. To do this he rented an air nailer. In the directions it specifically tells you Not to nail downward into concrete like from the top of a knee wall. He did it anyway. Nail went thru the board, thru the concrete and thru the top of his thigh and exited his calf.

From then on his nickname became Zowie Howie.

we have quite a bit of the old Cop shooting him/herself here it seems.
the most recent that I REMEMBER was at Christmas with the old Shop with the Sherriff, a event where poor Kids are taken to the local wally world to shop with officers and of course the Sheriff must be there for pictures and cause he wants to get elected next year.
well he was at the register and managed to shoot his back up gun, the boollett struck one of his Lieutenants and a child, fortunately nether was life threatening.
    this was in North Georgy.

Au contraire, they introduced the "safe action trigger". And, to this date, it is impossible for a Glock to fire unless the trigger is pulled completely to the rear. They have a firing pin block which is the basis of pulling the trigger fully to the rear in order to allow the pistol to fire.

Many LEO's and military have no to little experience with firearms.
Many of the one s who do only have experience with their issued firearms.
Being a LEO or military does not mean they are firearms enthusiast.
