The only good thing about Trump's impeachment......is it gives me something to pay less attention to than caliber wars. I shoot, it falls......we're good.

Sure, I'll weigh in. If it's measured in hundredths of an inch, it's a good old American caliber. That's fine enough for me, magnum or no.

Why shoot a special when you can shoot a magnum?

Dirty Harry sported an auto mag and that is all you need to know.

I get it, it's an attempt to say that since there's no shorter version (ie. .41 Special) it's not really a Magnum. But it is a "real" magnum because SAMMI says so.

"Magnum" is ill defined. Since you can't shoot a .22 LR in a .22 Magnum you could qualify the .41 as a Magnum version of the .41 Colt. The bullet diameter is not the same, but that's not actually a requirement.

    There is a .41 Special.

It's just a wildcat and not a commercially loaded round. I've shot one. A buddy of mine back in the late '90's had a Ruger Single Six in .32mag converted into a .41 Special 5 shooter.

Well yes, Starline has .41 Special brass. But since it came along way after the .41 Magnum and is not commercially loaded I didn't go there. It doesn't really count as according to SAMMI it doesn't exist. It was in no way instrumental in the development of the .41 Magnum. Actually the reverse is true.

Humorous opening post, but it has become a discussion of about calibers. Moved from the Funny Farm to the Firing Line.

Frankly, I no longer particularly care what folks say about cartridges anymore, because the vast majority of folks who engage in such arguments are either sheep, fanboys, or armchair commandos, and none of which know what they're talking about anyway.

The only times I bother to post in threads regarding specific cartridges are those who are legitimately seeking information, not just trying to start a lame argument.

Caliber Wars are basically the big boy's equivalent of a "My dad could totally beat your dad" argument.
