I'm new to shotguns and have a Tristar O/U, and a Mossberg 500 for my son. We got out for a pheasant hunt last November. Took shots at 2 birds but didn't bag anything. It was somewhat comical. A bird flew slowly over our heads. Took us a minute to recognize it was a pheasant (this is our first time in the field). Realized it was a pheasant, mounted shotgun...doh! Safety on. LoL. It was a long shot after that. We still had a good time together.

We haven't been able to get out again for a hunt. We did get get out on a sporting clays course a couple of times over the holidays. That was a lot of fun.

Mossberg all the way. I recently sold off all my 12 ga's due to a shoulder injury, including my Jerry Miculek JMpro 12 ga auto. Which is the best, fastest auto I have ever shot. Well other than a few of the newer Benelli Carbon fiber models- they are amazing and cost lots of money. But my fav has always been the Mossberg 500 series. Currently have a modified M500 in 20 gauge with both field and home defense barrels and a tact rear stock. My other shotgun is a Rossi 410 single for my wife to use to handle varmints around the farm.

Went for the Mossberg 20 gauge tactical gun (model 500) and a youth model in 20 gauge as well.

I have no sporting intentions with my shotgun! Its sole purpose is to deal with unwanted intruders. Some shotguns, like you have in your photo, are as much a work of art as they are a machine.

I'm a novice with shotguns. My prize is my Dad's Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge which is probably 75 years old. I wanted a SD gun but thought a 16.5" tactical gun was too limited in usage and when I saw a sale on a Maverick 88 with the Security/Field combo...one gun with two barrels. Gave it a fluff and buff and it operates very well now.

correction..just looked up the serial number on the model 12...it's over 90 years old. Probably go to my nephew after I'm gone and I hope he values the provenance as much as I do.

The only shotgun I like is the Savage 22lr over 410 combo gun. I wish I had one.
    Instead I have a Mossberg 500 in 12 gauge, it's a good gun I just don't have a use for it.
I'm just not interested in shotguns.

I must say that I am partial to Beretta, 12 ga, SxS. However, I do have a Connecticut Shotgun Co., 20 ga, SxS, that I am really fond of.

I have a Maverick 88 (Mossberg) that I tricked up a bit with a fold over stock and a pistol grip. My sporting gun is a Charles Daly Miroku O/U 12g (see my .sig). If I was going to buy another scattergun it would probably an all purpose Rem 870 or 1187. If Remington does only one thing well its shotguns.

Re; Attire at a shooting event. This is why I love the UK and (now) the Manx. They have a proper way to do things. Proper attire at a shooting event is tradition and I respect tradition. It is simply
the way things are done, old chap! Some here in the States (more lately) are more preoccupied with tearing things down and destroying tradition and history than preserving what makes us Americans (good or bad). Propriety and convention are quintessentially British (and Manx) and I personally would have it no other way. Whenever I have visited the UK it has always been a pleasure.

My favorite shotgun is My Mossberg Maverick 88 12 ga. with the 20in barrel it's a 7+1 round capacity in that configuration, I got it primarily for home defense but also use it in 3 gun competition.
I have 2 mossberg bolt action 20 ga. and 2 vintage single shot 12 ga. store brand guns which I inherited from My Dad.
