We have had three Walmarts close in outlying communities of less than 10,000 population a couple of years ago. Our Lubbock stores are ultra conservative with their labor hours, particularly cashiers. That, coupled with the China Tarriff war, the shooting in El Paso and ticking off every one in the flyover states with their no guns and ammo policies, will soon be in a death spiral.

So, my Walmart gun guy just told me that they will continue selling .22 ammo, which makes me happy.

UPDATE: It's official. Clearance tags went up at mine today. Someone had cleared out all the .223/5.56, however, I did score 3 100ct packs of Federal 9mm 115gr brass for $8 each and 2 500 round bricks of Winchester 9mm 124gr NATO for $30 each(last 9mm they had). They are dropping ALL pistol ammo except .22LR, .22 MAG, and .17 cal. They had .40S&W out the rear end.

They haven't gone that far yet here, 9mm dropped to 7 for 50 rds of either Federal or WWB, 21 for 150 of winchester white box 9mm, and 14.99 for 45 acp alum. brass 45 a dollar more for 50 rd box. Didn't see any boxes of 100 rd Federal left or a tag for it. 380 Remington UMC brass cased did however drop to 13 for 50, which is what perfecta 380 used to be. Also 13 for 20 of .380 defensive HP ammo, which is way cheaper than it used to be. 223, 7.62, 300 blackout appear to be unchanged so far locally.

It doesn't matter if they drop the price here to zero. There is never anyone in the area to open the cabinet!

All 3 WalMarts around me still sell rifles, shotguns and ammo to feed ‘m all. The AP”agreement” was to sell out their current inventory which will likely still take a year or two to sell out.

They changed the labels from "Clearance" yellow to regular labels with the clearance price. I was in Helena today with the wife, and they had some 5.56 left, but not anymore. $5/20 for Win 5.56, and I got the last 420 rounds they had.

Dayton, they will still carry rifles, shotguns, and ammo for them. The only thing they are axing is all pistol ammo and .223/5.56.

What happens if somebody is buying pistol ammunition to shoot out of his rifle?

I have rifles that shoot just about all of their so called pistol ammunition up to 45/70. In fact they go higher than that because I have a rifle that shoots 500 Smith and Wesson.

Actually, the way they advertise it, they are really not selling a lot of rifle ammunition also.

I’m beginning they just virtue signaled but with little at immediate risk. By the time they run through their stock they will still be selling for rifles shotguns, etc and ammo for them.

At my local one the manager said they won't be able to get any 7.62X 39 or .300 blackout either.
