2019 TA.net Rapid City, South Dakota Shoot, Meet, Eat, and Greet Event Sept 6th-8th

Yes, we are going to have another get together in Rapid City, South Dakota this September 6th thru 8th! We'll have a chance to visit with friends, eat, shoot a bit, eat some more, and do some more shooting! Rapid City is a beautiful place, with lots of spectacular sights to see nearby like Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands and Devils Tower, just to name a few!

The plan right now is to get together on Friday afternoon, September 6th at Smoking Gun indoor range to do some shooting. It's $40 per lane per two people per hour and it's a great time to try each other's handguns, zero in your sights, and just have a good time! Nearby the indoor range is a nifty restaurant called Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews " offering a wild variety of freshly made extreme burger creations and craft beer pairings".. with 50 types of burgers and 50 different beers...YUM!!!

On Saturday we'll drive up to Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD and have a day of shooting at their range, with sandwiches for lunch. Then for dinner, well meet at Bel Joli Winery in Sturgis for their annual pig roast!

Sunday afternoon will find us at Beretta Rd for an afternoon of shooting with friends in the unofficial shooting range of the beautiful Black Hills National Forest!

We have a nice group of folks that plan to come out, but we want to extend an invitation to ALL of our TA.net members to come on out and join us! Please let us know if you would like to attend, so that we can get all the essential info out to everyone in a timely manner! Looking forward to seeing everyone SOON!

    darbo and Sekol like this.
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting or shooting sports, it is about the citizens of this country having the means to protect themselves and the states from the tyranny, oppression, and misery of an over powering government. Modern rifles are a means for the citizens to stand up to an over powering government.

Hmmm. A TA meeting on Baretta Road. I wonder if there is a Taurus Road nearby, with a few improvements that Baretta Road doesn't have!

For those who have never made a trip to Rapid City for the Taurus Meet and Greet, it is indeed an opportunity to meet a lot of great people, have a good time and go sight seeing at the same time. I mean, the Black Hills has half of Western History tucked in pretty good with Dead Wood, the Crazy Horse Mountain, and Mt. Rushmore. The big Sturgis Ralley ends before the meet or you wouldn't be able to get a room. I only made the Rapid City event one time even though I wanted to the first three years. Other trips, seemed to preclude my Rapid City trip, and the stars finally aligned and I made it.

This week, we are going to Yellowstone this week for an eight day trip, and then I will be trying to figure out how to make it to Sturgis August the 4th to watch my grandson race in Sturgis in the American Flat Track professional racers in an amazing TT track race, and then the Black Hills half mile oval 3 days later. When Sturgis is doing it's thing, it is like a zoo.

I still cannot think of many trips I have enjoyed any more than the Meet and Great in Rapid City. We are really fortunate to have Sekol work on getting it all together. Also, while not as active in helping organize as the first few years, Loud Viking still does what he can.

If anyone donates any guns to be won with Shooting skills, Preacher Rodgers will win them, so don't even bother to compete if he is there! Williams wife garners the sweepstakes ticket winners/ If Kruser isn't there, it is because he isn't with us any longer.

I think some are going on their 5th or sixth year to go there. Sekol fell in love with the place and moved there.

If you can, put it on your calender and try your best to make it.

It will , as always, be awesome.
And Preacher will win every firearm that can be won...
It's pretty incredible how that always happens.

That Preacher is some shot. I plan on being there. For those thinking about it, but not sure, the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands are just a few of the beautiful regional land marks. There's an air force base nearby, and I think I heard they give tours. Devil's Tower (Close Encounters....) is a couple hours away, I think. And if you ever wanted to see Sturgis without being swamped by bikes, this is your chance. I don't remember the weather being anything other than wonderful at these events, but of course, there's no guarantee. The people at the gathering have all (so far) been very nice and welcoming. To a person. I'm visiting some other folks in the area, so I won't be there for the whole event, but I look forward to it. Thanks for getting the thread going Sekol and others! BTW, Sekol and her husband are truly some of the nicest people you'll ever meet...no exaggeration.

There are "four boxes" that can be employed to resist the downfall of America, the ballot box, the soap box, the jury box and, lastly, the ammo box.

The Rapid City get together is one of the highlights of my year. Getting to know the folks on this forum in a personal way is a lot of fun. I have enjoyed meeting 15-20 different members over the years that I have been. It has always been a good, relaxing time of shooting, hanging out, eating and all around good time.

I'd encourage anyone who is considering it to take the plunge.
