ISP website allows you to renew FOID right at 90 days before expiration. No sooner.
They are running around 60 days. I got mine at day 60.

CCW renewal is running around 70-90 days if you submitted prints, and 120 days if you did not.
I'm at day 100 waiting for my CCW renewal. I did not submit prints.

"The Spring 2019 session of the Illinois General Assembly has finally ended. The big push by the anti-gun side was the Fix the FOID bill (SB1966), sponsored by Kathleen Willis and co-sponsored by her fellow travelers. Of course, it did everything but fix the FOID card but that is immaterial. The true intent was to destroy private firearm ownership by pricing and regulating average and low income citizens out of their Second Amendment Rights. The ISRA lobbying team and other pro-gun lobbyists worked together to stop this terrible bill. Had this bill passed, the ISRA, NRA and SAF were poised to file suit and had been for some time. This bill was clearly unconstitutional.

I want to thank the members who donated their time and constant vigilance who acted quickly on alerts that were sent out, calling for witness slips and calling their legislators. I also want to thank those who joined and donated to the ISRA, to all those who came to IGOLD and the dozens of other rallies around the state. It all made a difference.

The question is where do we go from here? First, we have to be ready for the first and second Veto Sessions which are scheduled for October 28th, 29th and 30th and November 12th, 13th and 14th. At this time, it is likely they will revisit SB1966. All members need to be ready. Then, of course, there is the Primary and General Elections. Just to announce that, is not enough. What we have to do is keep building through the summer, fall and winter. That means more rallies and more membership drives. We will have to work very hard to be ready for both the Spring 2020 Legislative Session and the elections. Whenever we have an event, please bring someone with you. I have seen how valuable these rallies are. The more gun owners we can reach, the better off we are."
    This state really sucks..

This came through today from the ISRA on a case regarding the FOID.

ISRA Informational Alert - Illinois v Brown case in Illinois Supreme Court
The Illinois State Rifle Association is pleased to announce the Supreme Court of the State of Illinois will hear the case of: People of the State of Illinois v Vivian Claudine Brown.

This case is an appeal by the Illinois Attorney General of a case from White County IL, where the circuit judge ruled that the FOID card requirement was unconstitutional in this particular case, where Ms Brown had a .22 cal rifle in her home and did not have a FOID card and was not a prohibited person.

No dates for arguments have been set at this time. We will keep you informed..

I doubt it...it's the ILLinois Supremes and I am sure it's larded up with Leftists who bend the law any way they think that their overlords want. As an example, even people with a concealed carry permit which has more stringent requirements than the FOID STILL have to carry and renew the FOID. It a tax they just can't give up...like every other tax in this godforsaken state (they just doubled the gasoline tax effective 7.1.19).

Well, at least with our convoluted judicial system, the state supreme court decision can be reviewed by the US Supreme Court if it involves a Constitutional issue, which, it could be challenged under the Second Amendment. Of course, it will take time and money to do so and that may be hard to come by--not to mention that the case wouldn't be heard (if at all) until 2025 or later!

I just went through this. Expect it to take every bit of 120 days. Which is absolutely obscene in this age of computers. It's a statement of precisely how corrupt and inefficient Illinois agencies are operated. Private companies run this poorly would be out of business in a heartbeat. But because it involves guns, nepotism, cronyism, incompetence, inefficiency, corruption, stonewalling, zero customer service, and plenty of attitude seem to not only be tolerated but encouraged within the ISP administrative ranks. Someone needs to flush this swamp but that'll never happen as long as Dems run the show. They could not be any happier about this clown act.

Except when something like Aurora happens and then the Dem response is to focus on legal gunowners instead of the MO and IL state agencies that allowed it to happen. When questioned whether she had checked the constitutionality of the FOID bill she sponsored, the dimwitted Dem smugly responded, "No." Didn't even care. IMO she should be charged with violating her oath of office.

BTW, I believe the Aurora shooting involved a man from Missouri, not AL.

What legislators are going to make a law creating a "violation of oath of office" crime? The only laws especially made for legislators themselves, are pay increases.

You raise an interesting point. What are these bureaucrats who can't stand guns and can't stand Second Amendment proponents, actually doing when they see these licenses come across their desks. Do you think they care one iota about your ID card, let alone your "rights"? They probably sit around the breakroom talking about the creative ways they delay requests.
