The man who was attacked is a security guard hired by McDonalds and that looked to me like a 1911 that he pulled from his OWB holster. The news report yesterday stated that the McDonald's there is a hot spot for kids and gangs as it is close to the Red Line El stop and the younguns come from the 'hood to find the action on the Mag Mile. They have had thirty police calls there....in thirty days.

very much like the MARTA train stations at Hightower Road and the one at Vice City, businesses reap the effects of teens and gang members with nothing to do between trains coming.
Marta has pretty high tech camera system, the businesses just outside not so much.

I see nobody noticed your question, so I'll answer it. Most pepper spray cans have no "grippy" surfaces on them. The Sabre Red pepper spray we sell in my store has a plastic wraparound that has finger grooves and we also sell one for runners tht has a velcro strap so you can secure it around your palm while running. I still don't know if that would be enough to stop someone from taking it away from you.

Back in the eighties I used to guard a few restaurants that were also located in hot spots. The only thing that happened with the crime was they took it out of the building and off the parking lot.

Very smart man. Tried to start non lethal and then went lethal as soon as that plan went sideways, yet maintained his composure and wits in not firing as he immediately identified they were no longer a threat as soon as he drew a firearm and they were beating feet. Doubly smart since this wouldn't be some story you needed to dig for if he pulled that trigger, it would be spashed on every major news network front/home page, the local DA would be looking into every crevice of his life wondering how far they wanted to take it, and the strong possibility of criminal and civil charges would loom over this mans head like a guillotine. Excellent composure from this man all things considered. He doesn't look like an average Joe walking down the street. Note the jacket and hat, which I believe indicated some form of security, as well as the utility belt that held pepper spray, handgun and cuffs from the looks of it. Not someone anyone with half a brain would try to prey on.

Oh and lastly, very disappointed with the crowd inside, as the only time they seem to show concern is when they thought a couple criminals were going to get shot.

^^ Especially in a city that put a cop in prison for shooting someone with a knife that was about 12 feet away and wouldn't drop it. (although the reason he deserved some punishment was the overkill that he consumated).

I'm not that surprised. It's Chiraq, after all. The patrons probably thought the security guard was getting what he deserved.

Actually he did this well. The use of a weapon is a last choice, not a first choice.
