Big difference when shooting really heavy 45 Colt loads with big heavy lead bullets. That extra weight of the SRH really tames those loads and I like knowing I'm not doing my gun harm. Shooting hot & heavy 45 Colt loads in my Alaskan 454 is a breeze, even shooting 360 gn LSWC Hard Cast with max loads of 2400 is still not much more recoil than a 44 mag in a mod 29.

well being a human being, and pretty much a typical one (OK-Ok-OK some people that i know say this!) anyway I hunted boar for a while, lots of walking, jogging, up and down hills, hot , humid weather, even in the winter and colder months it took being in good shape.
well to the point , I had three handguns that i liked a lot for that, all 41 magnums. a Dan Wesson 6 inch bull barrel, a S & W 57 with 6 inch barrel, and Ruger Blackhawk (not a super) with a 6 1/2 inch barrel.
after a while i really appreciated that light weight Ruger , a lot.

Tell the first 2 invitees to each bring a friend. Then if one doesn't show, you still get better odds.

Then there's the last option: save the last round for yourself!

If you have the prescience to see there will be three bears waiting, why can't you just avoid them?

Most stereotypes come from how you treated the last person who didn't know you.

I chose the Ruger 357 Magnum because that is what our local bear hunting club uses (the dogs chase them up trees and they shoot them). 367 Magnum revolvers have worked for them for decades and if it good enough for them, I think it would work for me.

I got the Glock. For bears. Just in case. You never know.

    Obama: AK-47s are for soldiers.
    Arwine: MAK-90s are for civilians.

But, you have to lug that thing around all day. I'll take my Blackhawk, thanks. It's not the brick a Redhawk is.

Good question, if only we could ask the dead victims! Avoidance, I believe most of us understand, is always the best option. But as I mentioned in an earlier post, STUFF HAPPENS, usually in the form of an unexpected encounter. And if it's a momma grizzly watching over her cubs that are unexpectedly encountered, things can get very intense, very rapidly.
