Well it's been over 2 months since I started this topic and to be honest there has been Zero interest. even the poll Cz added has only received 20 hits. The only real suggestion other than what Czechbikr and myself have added has come from Fishinkeylargo. I've asked for suggestion on time, venue, added interests even to just do a single day or multi day event.

    NOTHIN!

Well I've been thinking about it and looking at a few different things and a couple ideas I've come up with is that McMiller Sports Center Public Shooting Range | McMiller Sports Center Eagle, Wisconsin has a Law Enforcement Range Law Enforcement Range | McMiller Sports Center Eagle, Wisconsin that they also offer for special and group events. This range is closed to the public during events and a Range Safety Officer is provided. One of the things is, there are only 12 lanes that go out to 75yds as a group or to 100yds for individual strings fire.

So because there has been so little interest as a group I have though of opening this up to a couple other forums that I visit and limiting it to a total of 24 people. Which would require us to shoot in shifts which their normal operation is 15min sessions between cease fires, cold range. But as a closed group we could set our own schedule.

Now tell me what you think. If no one is interested in participating then I'll just let this idea die.

The time that I was at McMiller with family which was prior to our shoot there last summer they put us on the LE range as they had work going on with the others. It was only lightly populated that day and it was a very nice range. 100 yards is plenty for me. If they would let us reserve it for a dedicated group of a dozen it would be great. If the group ran larger than that I don't see that as much of an issue, even down to sharing a bench. We usually move around and try shooting other guns anyway and fill other time with shooting the breeze.

I like McMiller for the opportunity to bring our own picnic...grill, meat, sides and beveridges. It was pretty busy the last time, busier than I've ever seen it for the few times I've been there, but it didn't stop us from getting on to shoot.

The poll is inconclusive, not only for the small number of people who have shown any interest but also because the choices for dates are all over the place. Pick a date or dates and rock and roll. Do it by the expected weather, to avoid June weddings, graduations, baptisms, etc...whatever. I'll put it on my calendar and be there with a grill, cooler, meat and guns and hope that others can join us for a day or two of fun.

One of the reasons I thought about the LE Range is just for the fact that we can isolate ourselves and set up a impromptu competition if we want and there does appear to be room to set up a grill or two and some coolers for drinks or just cold water. There also appears to be a building on that site. One of the downfalls would be that the range has to be reserved and a deposit made. The cost of the range is $400.00 for the whole day regardless of the number of people. So a date would also be limited by their availability and open dated.

There is a link to the LE Range in post 31 and it does include a couple pictures.

with 25 people signed up and paid it's only 16.00 each...for all day. It was pretty noisy last year having our picnic on the grounds. I would favor using that grove that's down the road about 1000 feet. I wonder if it's possible to reserve that area?

Y'all aware that the best time of year in America's dairyland is October? Of course we could also plan a combination shoot / ice fishing event to test everyone's' mettle. Those that complain about a little frostbite have to turn in their Man Cards. And if you haven't seen a herd of contented Wisconsin cows on a pastoral hillside, best visit before they begin that Green New Deal.
