I had to head into Elgin today to shoot some real estate photos...so...since I was going to be 5 minutes away from the range that gives an old timers discount, two bags o gunz found their way into the Durango. 11.00 for an hour in a nice range (80') with computerized target retrieval is a pretty good deal.

Brought the AR 15 with the 20 round mags, the 300 BLK pistol, PT 111 G2 with the P226 mags and the Heritage Rough Rider. Set the target out to the end and remembered why I love shooting that carbine. The target is below.

The 300 BLK had issues...again. I'll post that up in Smithing.

The PT 111 G2 ran like a champ...except with the P226 mags...FTF with each of the two mags. Really irritates me as I want to use them as backup mags when carrying and cannot trust them in that role yet.

The Rough Rider was a hoot to shoot as always. I may be trying to wear that thing out in the next few years. May have to shop for more 22 LR..and still have yet to try magnums.

Went today for about 3 1/2 hours. Kind of expected to find a rattlesnake or two. One lousy lizard. I took my S&W 586, S&W Victory .22, S&W Shield in .40, and my Glock 19. Shot around 100 rounds in each. Beautiful day, and enjoyed every minute of it. Now for the cleaning. Maybe tomorrow.

    Going Friday!
put a new fiber optic front sight on the CZ P-01 to see how i like it VS the Tritium front sight and need to test it out, plus need to shoot either one of my 10 MM or 38 Supers as its been a while for either.
sounds like another CZ / Tanfoglio day and those always turn out real nice.

Well, I took a box of 115 grain 9mm cheap factory ammo I got at Academy and fired up 24 of 'em in my Ruger Blackhawk convertible. The other 26 were fired in my Kel Tec P11. I have been carrying it some, but haven't fired it in a while and it showed. I got back into the swing of it after about a magazine. Actually, I was shooting it better than my Blackhawk. I've always liked that little toot.

I managed to get through the whole 50 rounds. I was fatigued by the end, but still controlling the P11 pretty well. I went to my oncologist last week and he put me on iron supplements. I'm showing signs of improvement, but I'm very iron deficient and quite anemic. I have the red blood cells back, but the chemo interferes with the iron somehow. So, yet ANOTHER pill to take. But, a week ago I could barely make it to the back door without stopping to catch my breath, let alone go out and shoot straight. So, this shows me I've made progress.

I went yesterday. 50 round each through my G2C and Springfield XD Mod2 45.

Didn't shoot too badly. I would have killed the bad guy with either Gun.

However..... I could sure see and feel the effect of not having been to the range in quite a while.

Need to get that range habit back in swing.

I tried to grill skeet, boil skeet, bake skeet. I even bacon wrapped it which usually solves all wild game cooking problems. But, I could never get the tough out of it. So, I went back to shooting doves.

Same thing with me and those lil Golf Eggs that I kept finding in the woods along the side of the course!

You have to soak them in buttermilk for 72 hours in the fridge. Give that a try next time. Softens them right up.
