Sending a gun in for repair

If I send a gun in for repair (not necessarily Taurus) does it have to ship back to an FFL for me to pick up?

Thought I read somewhere that if it ships to the same addressee it can ship right to
    their residence.

Correct If you ship it out and use your home address, they can ship it back to your home address.

It depends on what state you live in, some states do not allow it to ship back to you.

I assume I'm going to have to be present to sign for it?

They're surely not going to just leave it at the door.

I believe that will depend on local ordinances!
they differ from state/ municipality I do believe!
Here they can be direct shipped to the residence.

IF I am not mistaken "AN ADULT" must be there to sign for it, I don't think it has to be YOU.

I had my TCP shipped to wife's work so she could sign for it years ago.
