I practice all of those except #2. I do not carry inside my home.
If I ever get paranoid enough to feel the need to carry in my own house I will move.
We live in a nice close knit neighborhood with one exit/entrance. We have 5 police officers living here and about 8 military families.
All outside doors are locked. Back yard has a 6 foot fence. Front door is behind a railing that does not open.
We have several weapons in the home in strategic places and unseen by visitors, (which we do not have by the way).
We have motion sensors on all 4 sides of the home plus video. We have two dogs who love us. Other people, not so much.
If that isn't enough I'll just move to Serbia where carrying inside the home would be necessary.
Or maybe Chicago.
Maybe I could put a sniper's nest on the roof. Hey............I think I'm on to something here............
I know land mines are out. I checked with local officials. They just looked at me weird and made some hasty notes.

Home invasions happen when:

1.) You're not paying attention
2.) You are out and your vulnerable family is home.
3.) It's 3:30 am.
4.) The Power's either out or cut.
etc
etc
etc

That's why I carry at home.

Tis the season, I always have a pocket pistol in my hip pocket, specially around the house. I live on a corner and have a side street that carries as much or more traffic than the street in front of the house. When I'm working on the front or side yard, the pocket pistol feels very welcome.

I carry, when I am at home, inside sometimes...outside all the time. My case is different than most, because we live in the Parsonage, right next to the Church. So it is kind of like a real public place. People are always pulling in the driveway and coming to the house, looking for something or needing directions. So, I carry...I am not paranoid, just CAREFUL.

I have them all covered, I'm not paranoid, however bad things happen in nice safe neighborhoods. I carry while at home all the time.

To me, carrying at home is as much a matter of habit as anything else. When I get dressed in the morning, the pistol goes in my pocket, and stays there - either until I go to bed that night, or if I have to go in somewhere where I can't carry (i.e., work, in my case). If you always carry, you don't have to remember to grab your pistol. It's always with you.

I carry at home, where else should I learn how to act and move? Therefore, I'm not bumping into things because I'm 2" wider now than I was, I don't clunk or get hung up sitting down or getting up, all those movements you do without thinking. Isn't this why we practice our draw, so it can be done without thinking?

I don't carry at home but I always have a gun near me. As for home invasions, its a possibility but our front door is over a third of a mile from the road and you have to pass through an IR beam that gives off an alarm when you trip it. We also have security cameras all around the farm with one pointed at the front driveway and one pointed at the front, back and side door.

This reminds me of the short conversation I had with my daughter a few weeks ago (which I've related on another thread).

Daughter: Why do we need a loaded gun at home?
Me: We have a burglar alarm and you're always careful to set it, right?
Daughter: <Nods head, says nothing more.>

She's not opposed to guns. Where she works, practically everyone carries at least one weapon, including her boss. She shoots well enough to qualify easily for her CHL, and is considering it. She's just sorting out all the arguments in her head.

May you all have a safe and Merry Christmas!!!

I live in a safe area, my home is relatively secure, and I carry at home. My EDC and wallet are always on my person. Like my wallet, I'm so used to having my pistol on me, that I don't even feel it anymore. I don't sleep or shower with it, but it's always within reach. I'm not paranoid, but stuff happens without warning..
As for an IWB holster, I sweat....ALOT, I used to carry IWB, but then I noticed my mag release sticking... RUST.. I modified an inexpensive Elite nylon holster to work between my waist band and belt (attached to belt) and works great for me!
