Congrats on your nice Garand.
I ordered an M1 Garand from the CMP recently, and today it arrived at my front door. It was like opening a Christmas present, not even knowing the manufacturer, but that it is "service grade".
The thing is a 3.5 million Springfield, and the metal finish is 99%, and the wood is black walnut end to end. It's a CMP new stock, which I really didn't want, but it's so gorgeous I can't complain. And other than a little shine on the bolt lugs, it looks like a brand new Garand. Who could complain about that?
Muzzle is 1+, throat is 3. If it shoots as good as it looks, I might have to shoot some matches.
Cursor jumped to the title line and my 99% got transported unintentionally. Can't fix it.

Pics please and cheers.
Congratulations on a great shooting gun. I am a fan of the Garand as well as the M1A's I have the Scout version on my short bucket list.
I was shooting with my friend and his dad, when his dad pulled out the Garand and a M1 Carbine. I about died. My friend had never shot it before so he had no idea how to load the clips. I showed him how and his dad was impressed. I had not shot one for close to 25 years. I shot a few rounds at 50 yards then moved out to 100 and put them all center mass. I guess once you shoot these legends you never forget. My buddies dad was like dang son you can really shoot. I said it was his fine rifle and I was just holding onto it while it did all the work. He laughed!
I hope you enjoy your's as much as I have enjoyed shooting several of my friends that own them. You will have a hard time wiping that smile off your face when it first goes bang. I have shot many military rifles and nothing even comes close to these wonderful guns.

I've shot Garands before, and love them. I also have 'some' M1 carbines and an M1A Scout. Maybe I'll take a picture of the 3 together.
I was out shooting an M1 carbine when the Garand arrived. Oh what a fine day! Was shooting clays at 60 yards, and bowling pins.
