TAURUS Copper Bullets .45 acp 185 grain

    Questions:

Q1: Can this be purchased from Taurus Direct?
Q2: How does the Taurus Copper Bullets compare to the other (I have no idea as to whom) vendors Copper Bullets?
Q3: Are the Copper Bullets ALL of that and a box of chips, or is it just hype?

Looking at using these bullets for my defensive ammo....

    Thanks ALL!

Everything I have read say's the Barnes Copper bullets are perfect for a home defense round. As far as factory loaded ammo Cor-Bon makes it as well. Or, if you are a reloader, you can buy the Barnes bullets and load them up yourself.

I plan to do my own loads and I will have some Barnes bullets for HD as well as for when I am hunting in the Condor Zone here in CA.

Just recently someone showed their expansion on here. I don't remember the link. Anyhow since they are not +p rated, they do not expand very well.

Here is a link to Ammunition to go, they had the best price when I got mine. $13.95 for a box of 20. I would strong recommend running a few hundred through your weapon before using them for a carry load. In my PT145 with a full magazine round #1 and #2 would jam on the feed ramp. Rounds #3 through #10 would chamber and fire fine. If I only loaded 8 rounds in a 10 round mag, all would perform great. With that being said I currently carry the weapon with WWB due to it's the only round so far that has performed flawlessly in my weapon.

The Cor-Bon 185gr loads certainly ARE rated +P.
Their DPX45160 160gr copper hollowpoints are NOT +P and still top 1,000fps out of a three inch barrel! Tests I've seen online show them blowing through the FBI standard four layers of denim and penetrating better than a foot through ballistic gelatin as they blossom into 80 caliber daiseys.
I don't know if the 185's have failure to expand problems as someone stated but these 160gr honeys don't. They seem like the way to go out of a short barrel.

i had some problems with them feeding in my 24/7. that nose profile didn't seem to want to ride up the ramp. so i never bought any past the one test box.
