I did a lot of research at one time on 9mm ammo for self defense. There's a lot of information and videos out there. When I had reached saturation point I settled on 115gr Critical Defense and 124gr Federal HST. Both work well in my guns and at the ranges that they'll be used at, are accurate.

To be honest, I don't think that there's much difference between any of the premium brands and it comes down to personal preference. I shoot my carry round a lot so cost also comes in to the equation. I probably have more of the Critical Defense than anything else although I am thinking of giving the Sig Saur ammo a try. $$$$

Exactly! I've tried a few others along the way but as long as your gun eats it use it.

Been carrying either the Federal 124 grain HST's or the Speer 124 grain +P Gold Dots in most of my mid to full size 9mm Pistols.

In my sub-compacts, such as my pre-G2 PT111 or my PT709, I've been using/carrying Federal 135 grain Personal Protection Hydrashoks, which are formulated for the smaller 9mm Pistols.

All my pistols are loaded with Hornady critical
defense . I’ve practiced with them but only to see how different they were . Other than being less grain than my normal practice ammo and being HP there isn’t too much difference except in price so now i just use Hornady to CC and cheaper brands for practice . But you can find test results on Hornadys website .

    What cycles reliably?

Out of what will cycle, what shoots the straightest from the gun in question?

    Use that one.

I'm not married to a brand. I test to see what works best in the gun in question. I've seen identical guns with consecutive serial numbers that shot best with 2 completely different loads.

I like Hornady bullets, quite accurate and reliable feeding. That don't mean they're the only ones that will work, I just like 'em.
