Had fresh Trippletail today and will again tomorrow. Someone caught it and was freaked out by how ugly it was so they did not want to eat it. Boat captain filleted it up and kept it separate from the other fish because as he put it, it is special. I willing said I would dispose of it for them. 5.5#'s of excellent fish came my way. It's not the best looking fish and has pretty tough skin, but as far as I am concerned it is one of the best fish out there.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting or shooting sports, it is about the citizens of this country having the means to protect themselves and the states from the tyranny, oppression, and misery of an over powering government. Modern rifles are a means for the citizens to stand up to an over powering government.

97°F with a heat index of 107°F and not a cloud in the sky. First grilling of the season out on the deck. Got a pair of 2" thick New York strip steaks from Hy Vee that are almost done with baked potato and roasting ears waiting in the kitchen. Add a tall glass of milk and I'm set. Don't know Hy Vee? Ask anyone from Iowa or Missouri. Best steaks for BBQing.

Then when I'm done, off to the golf course for some twilight wedge practice. Got a match play tournament to be ready for in the next two weeks.

Took Mrs Flash to "Fajita Grande" last night.

They started with the usual chips, plus a nice salsa, plus a big bowl of guacamole - her favorite, but this time, had a bit much tomato in it, though it was all gone by the meal's end. We each had an echillada platter, (one beef, one chicken&cheese, one chicken&bean), with chili on one, queso on the second, and a salsa verde (heavy on the garlic and cilantro, please) on the third. Refried beans, of course, and -- spanish rice like I hven't enjoyed anywhere east of Waco.

We must return more often. However, last night must have been "anything goes" night - next to our table was two families, with five little boys under five years old, all trying to out-shout each other (YES, parents too), they spilled three separate glasses of milk, and one plate of tacos while we were there. They were still there when we left, too, and still shouting.

The table on the other side of us had what must have been a family of some sort, two couples of sixty-ish age, and three girls in their twenties who each had had just-one-too-many margaritas, and they were trying to communicate (very) vocally AND with ASL. (And crepiest thing, one of them looked so very much like AOC).

Fortunately for Mrs Flash - and therefore doubly so for me - she was facing the door. Because in the booth in the back corner and out of her sight was the most surreal component of the whole affair , a pair of young fellows making out with each other over a big drink with a bunch of fruit sprouting over the edge of the glass.

I say, the food was quite good and we will be back, just not on a Saturday night any more.

For my sons birthday meal, at his request we had mashed spuds, real, not packet, steamed broccoli and he said we could choose the meat. Deb got a 3 lb chuck roast that I browned, then finished in the Instant Pot. No bone but it would have fallen off it! Carved with a fork. Made gravy with the drippings.
Had to be rolled to bed!
