    What're you looking forward to?

With Thanksgurkey Day approaching, just thought I'd ask if y'all had a favorite main course, side, salad or even a special condiment that you soooo look forward to savoring every year? It's really close for me, as I love stuffing with gravy but I'm afraid the candied yams take the flag......with marshmallows on top, naturally.

I don’t get turkey and dressing anytime except Thanksgiving and Christmas. So that’s what I look forward to the most. Then there’s the cheese rolls. I have them always, and always look forward to eating those.

Dressing cooked outside the bird so it is dry, smothered in gravy.
Whole cranberry sauce, preferably homemade and not Ocean Spray.
Pecan pie, preferably Jack Daniels pecan pie.

That satisfying belch and breaking of wind that signifies a great Thanksgiving meal.

Turkey, stuffed "Eastern Shore" style, with oysters.

Of course, the mashed potatoes and gravy,

    Buttered (HEAVILY buttered) yellow corn,

Homemade cranberry sauce with orange-zest, black walnuts, and a Jonthan apple in it.

Sassafrass tea, sweetened with locust honey

    and

    finally

    Mincemeat pie.

My wife's home baked apple, peach and blackberry pies. She learned from her mother, and makes the best pies I've ever eaten. And if you know me, you can tell I've sampled a few in my life.

All of it, because I'm not making any of it this year and got invited to three Thanksgiving dinners on different days. That is pretty awesome. But pumpkin pie is my go to.
