    Thumbs up Sometimes I forget...

Just how good something I've eaten all my life can taste. My wife came home from the market with some absolutely beautiful tomatoes. They are as big as a large orange, deep dark red color all over the outside, and when sliced open the inside is just as read all the way through with no pale spots. When you cut the tomato and half the juice actually runs out on the plate and it's bright red just like the tomato. I had forgotten just how good a tomato like these tasted but my wife fixed it!

The way she did it was very easy. She started with soft white regular old Wonder Bread. She spread both slices with Duke's real mayonnaise. Then she layered the freshly sliced tomatoes completely covering the bread. Add some salt and pepper and the sandwich is ready to go. When you bite into that juicy tomato and the juice soaks into the white bread with the mayonnaise the flavor is absolutely heavenly.

She serves them with ice cold sweet tea, sliced garlic Spears, sweet bread and butter chips, and homemade red potato salad. Hats off to the simple life!

Ah takes me back to my youth and spending summers on the farm. Aunt Ruth would make those and had similar sides. She had some of the most amazing produce in the little 20 acres set aside for her gardening. Including real red tomatoes, and amazing squash etc..

    This is a bit worrisome.
You seem to have developed a personal relationship with your tomatoes.
I'm not even sure if I should be watching.
    But I will..............

Wow where did they come from? I haven't had a good tomato since I moved to FL! Perhaps the only thing I miss about IL.

Well first of all a pox on your house for reminding me about the taste of a fresh tomato sandwich in the middle of February! Secondly where did you get such a gem this time of year, even in Florida? And lastly yes that's exactly how we fix them and I eat them in large numbers all summer long, right from my own garden.

Yes, I really love tomato sandwiches. To be honest however my wife thoroughly spoils me with the way she cooks for her and I.

Take tonight for instance, she did a very nice piece a rib-eye steak for me medium rare, she sauteed mushrooms for me in butter, and she served it with jumbo fresh shrimp done in garlic and butter with sides of mashed potatoes and fresh carrots.

Yes, I know I'm fat as hell, but I came by it legally and with tremendous pleasure!
