I just love the dichotomy between your first and second sentence.

The diameter of the individual virus isn't what's important. Dry, solitary viruses aren't the issue. Just because that's how it's illustrated doesn't mean that's how it is encountered in nature. It's droplets from coughing, sneezing, or similar bodily functions. Those are quite a bit bigger.

But sure, keep accusing people of not knowing what they are talking about.

Inconsiderate is a term I can agree with. "Death wish" is hyperbole.

Our island itself is pretty much virus free- (one diagnosed case so far). Since we have reopened, however, our visitor count has skyrocketed. I for one, (and I guess my wife for two), choose not to go to bars, restaurants or other gatherings. We also choose to mask, and on occasion glove up, when shopping off island.

These are personal decisions and not requirements that we intend to enforce on others. We are grateful when we observe others taking the same precautions, and steer clear of those who do not feel the need.

I have no problem with businesses that require a mask, such as our favorite local coffee shop. I always honor their request. (Rickenbacher can get his coffee at several other venues, so all's well there...)

What I do have a problem with is people like the couple who barged into the coffee shop this morning wielding their Face Mask Exempt credentials and cussing like drunks when the owner escorted them to the door. Poor show...

From a guy whose opinion isn't sought after -- masks are a fad - a "feel good about yourself" fashion - nothing more. They do little, if anything, to protect the wearer or anyone else.

My wife and I have worn them (sort of begrudging) when some businesses request them. It's a minor hassle - not the end of the world. Yet. Like most all other fads, this one will fade away.

In addition, the better masks (and multi-layer masks) aren't like filters, they are actually like labyrinths. Even if the droplet is actually smaller than the openings in each layer, the openings in the layer are not aligned. The droplet would have to successfully negotiate a path around the fibers of each layer, like a football lineman getting past the opposition. Interestingly, the smallest droplets--the ones controlled by Brownian motion instead of, say, the direct force of a sneeze--are the least likely to get through the mask. It's the droplets right at the 3-micron point that are most likely to get through...larger and smaller droplets are more likely to be captured.

I do almost all of my shopping on Amazon now.
At least I don't have to wear a mask sitting at my computer.
We buy our groceries at HyVee where masks are voluntary.
I would estimate that about 50% are wearing them now in the store.
I would imagine folks are getting "covid fatigue" due to all the hyperbole on the media.

Politicians mutate too fast it will be hard to cure them

Our governoress in Kansas is mandating face masks just before July 4. Wear it or else what? What law? Who will enforce it?? Next time someone tells me I have to wear a mask, this is what I am going to put on.

You think you got it bad, I was told by a state official that I should wear a mask while out in public, and this was in 2018! (drum roll) I get no respect, no respect at all I tell ya.
