85 cases linked to one bar

On the first link, notice how the media calls it a "restaurant" in the title when it's also a bar. "Restaurants" are supposed to have capacity and social distancing mandates in place for sitting inside, and where I live not a lot of people are dining in anymore anyway. I drove past a drinking establishment on my way home last night and the parking lot was full, and I noticed some people were parked at the lot next door and walking into the bar. I don't recall that bar doing that well last year at this time of the year on a Saturday afternoon.

and comments from an Ohio bar owner who hasn't had a problem yet.

Texas shut down all it's 51% bars on Friday at noon. The bars I went to, older patrons, never had any problems, most older health compromised patrons were still staying away anyhow.

The bars causing the outbreaks mostly had patrons in the under 30 crowd. I doubt the bars I go to were even covering operating costs.

Not a good time to be a bar owner in Texas.

Seems to me it is just a matter of time when you get it.....then you get over it.....and let your body's immune system work for you. Still need to protect those who are vulnerable to the virus.

I like how they are blaming the bars for the spike in cases and not the peaceful protesters who were burning down the cities. I think they were the under thirty crowd also.

As long as our hospital bed capacity allows it, let's let all the young healthy folks get it until we reach herd immunity.

It started with a two week "flatten the curve." Now we're at 3 months plus, with trillions down the toilet. Everyone will be exposed sooner or later. It's like the old WC Fields joke, now we're just talking price.

Any enclosed space with lots of people is a dangerous proposition right now. Church, restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and other such places you wouldn't catch me anywhere near the front door, let alone inside. I've managed to drink and eat just fine at home, and with the way things are headed with so many people who have just given up on even trying or caring, I suspect that's going to be my SOP for many more months to come.

There is a whole lot of difference between being in a bar (or any enclosed space for an hour or two, rebreathing each other's air) and being out in the open under a breeze. Plus a lot of the people in the protests were wearing masks. They also tended to be much younger.

The two situations don't compare at all.

Two weeks, a month, two months...what would have changed? The virus would have been (and is) still out there. If certain conditions cause transmission today, a return to those conditions will cause transmission tomorrow. It should have been obvious to anyone thinking critically about the matter that after the lock-down flattened the curve, it would be necessary to continue the lock down to keep it flattened, until the vaccine was developed.

But the medical experts were reluctant to say that directly, and both media and politicians were reluctant to hold their feet to the fire to get a straight answer,.

I agree with this in general but I've watched videos of some protesters who, while they were outside, didn't have masks on and in the face of some counter protesters. (or vice versa)

One of the LEO's I talked to said he communicates with other LEO's from other cities in the state, and one of them had to arrest a protester who went from peacefully protesting to vandalizing something. After they arrested them, they fasked him if he had covid, and he said no. They found out however that he had been tested + for covid recently (because if you test + the state tells the police here if they have to have an official interaction with you, not a violation of hippa) She asked the guy "Aren't you supposed to be quarantining at home?" and his response was "I don't give a hoot!" (quote cleaned up due to forum rules) She asked him if he had told his friends he was hanging out with at the protest and he said no.
