I don't think I'm being overly paranoid by saying this, but...

If anyone out there (and let's be honest, there are quite a few) wanted to take the US down to its knees and perhaps even for the count, this might be the best time to try and do so. Resources are dwindling, supply can't keep up with demand on numerous levels, bleeding billions of $$$ a day, the public in the biggest hysteria they've been in in generations, and the leadership tripping over themselves trying to figure out the best approach for this, I'd say we are very much in a prone position. If you really want to hurt someone, what better position for them to be in? Cyber attacks are up dramatically lately, and I'd be surprised if the same targeted social media fake news that hit us in 2016 didn't start targeting us again as well to try and sow unrest and discord with a very frayed public. As if we didn't have enough to worry about...

Playbook of Obama's friend from the Weather Underground?

Politicians always take more power and we give up more liberty every time they declare an emergency.

Actually many in the media and past critics of the current admin are touting the correct direction the admin is going.
The thing discounted by the OP is the whole world is in this mess and many worse off than us. Keep you eye to the sky and your powder dry.

if any nation or combination of nations decided to invade, they'd have to face the largest standing army the world has ever seen. On top of our Federal Military, national guards and reservists, they'd also have to deal with state guards and then militia groups and finally hunters. All said and done, it would be an army of around 40-60 million people. 40-60 million pissed off americans who are dealing with older family members dying because of China and illegals and liberals trying to destroy our nation. Just because many folks aren't active military, that doesn't mean they haven't seen the battlefield. Many have seen more death up close and personal than some coroners. Every country on the earth would tremble in fear if their leaders decided to send them to our shores for nefarious reasons.

There is some serious underestimating of our military and intelligence capabilities going on here.

China needs to be shunned as a pariah by the entire world. In all of the media exposure we have seen however not much mention of the disease in Russia. Should Russia experience the same impact as Italy, their BFF status as fellow Communists may be strained. Our military has taken steps to insure that those service members with their fingers on the nuclear trigger stay healthy and the squids in the boomers have been quarantined at sea. An invasion would trigger WW III and I don't think that even ChiComs are that crazy.
