Want my permit, Diagnosed with anxiety, Live in Indiana, Problem? (indiana residents)

So im 24 and an indiana resident. I want to get my gun permit. I have been diagnosed long ago with anxiety. Im on a couple medications. On the forum it asks

Have you ever been treated for psychiatric
health care or an emotional or mental illness?

Ive already answered yes and i need a note from my doctor. Does any know if this is going to be a problem?
I really hope its not. I called my doctor and just told them i need a letter stating that i have anxiety and that i need it for a gun permit.
Any help is greatly apprecaited it. Thanks!

I feel for you Newowner22, I have not been diagnosed with anxiety but I have a high pressure job and do occasionally get anxiety attacks. I'm not on any medication and prefer to keep it that way but it sucks sometimes. I do have a carry permit.

I am on medications, im not a crazy person by any means, just anxiety. I don't rash decisions ext. its more like a shy type anxiety if that makes any sense. i just didnt feel right lying about the question. I think the form that i filled out is only good for 30 days. like i said i dont want to lie about question since i think the fbi will be going over my form ( i think) i dont even no if i 'were' to lie about it if anyone one would ever know or if it could cause me problems in the long run. i really want my permit though!

I understand your concerns but my counsel is to tell the truth on all forms.

If they catch you in a lie there could be criminal charges and you most certainly will never get a permit then.

Truly a sad state of affairs. Maybe we need to start being more careful what we tell our healthcare providers.

Some of the current laws and many of the proposed laws in state legislatures around the country are leaning to this being a reason to reject a permit application. The end result will be that people who are not violent, but do need some form of medication or treatment will not get it for just this very reason!

Sorry to hear about your issues. You did the right thing by being honest. I do hope they grant you the permit, but understand with after the crimes of some, the process has tightened up, as it should be. We saw the same thing after 9-11. When areas of concern arise, this is to be expected. I believe you face an up-hill battle in getting the permit.

I was on another forum and I'm not sure how true this is by Some one said if you bought the gun in Indiana then they should issue me a carry permit. I found online what exactly i need from my doctor for me to have a permit in Indiana so I hope all goes well.
