I have carried my 145 since 2008 in a Fobus holster with the safety on. If you have the newer generation of it, it is a SA first, followed by a DA if fail to fire. Just practice drawing your gun and releasing the safety as you come on target. Second nature after a while

One up the pipe WITH THE SAFETY ON. The manual tells you clearly that the weapon can discharge if it's dropped with one up the spout and the safety off, and there's at least one member walking around with a bullet hole in her abdomen from doing just that. The safety is there for a reason - use it.

Thoughtful question 74 -- glad you brought it up. It's just like others said. Keep one in the chamber, and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. It might not seem like much, but when the hammer comes down, the difference between being locked and loaded and having an empty chamber that you have to load can be the difference between life and death. BTW, all of the chambering of pistols, rifles and shotguns that you see on TV is just clown stuff -- because they think the noise is cool. Never did it when I was 11B, never did it a LEO either, and I still don't.

I think you have had your question answered with 5 pages of opinions. Real world is not Hollywood. Good luck on your training closed. Thanks to all that brought their wisdom.
