Model 692 3" - Does Anyone Here Carry it?

Just want to know if it's considered concealable (in a practical sense). It's got a thick cylinder with the 7 round capacity of course (I think the same as the 617, which is 1.53") and it's the 3" barrel one I'm interested in. Also it's 35oz. which doesn't have to do with concealability but would be considered heavy for carry for most people(?).

Also I would like to hear other opinions (other than carry) on the gun from anyone who owns one. I'm really interested in a 9mm REVOLVER in general. I like the idea of moon clips (especially with 9mm ammo) and the 692 has 7 shots compared to the smaller options (905 and Sp101) with only 5. That's why I'm hoping it's NOT too large for practical concealment.

    Thanks

Can't help much as the only revolver I carry currently is the 605 in the pocket of my winter coat due to the issue of accessing my IWB Shield 45 when bundled up. Concealability depends on your clothing and body shape IMO. I will say that I don't usually exercise other carry options often when the gun is heavier...my CZ75 Compact and Witness 45 Compact don't get much play for those reasons. The period of time carrying it plays into the equation there also...a few hours versus 12-16 makes a difference.

Yup, I have and do. I think I'm using a #2 pancake Blackhawk holster. Also it is a matter on how you dress. I dumped the original grips for a Hogue 73000 grip. I've gotten Speed Beez moon clips to work that are for the Smith & Wesson 986. When using for CCW, I do not use the Taurus moon clips. I use the TK custom made for the 692. They don't drop any rounds like the one Taurus made.

I'm waiting to see one of my regular holster makers to make a IWB like they did for my 627 Tracker. Which is a little too tight for the 692 because of the non fluted cylinders.

It is a hefty little beast and not too far over what a SP101 weighs. Accuracy at 10 yards I can dump a tight grouping double action in the middle of a IPSC target. It works better for me than the 3" LCRx or a .357 SP101 I did own and recently parted with.

Thanks Maloy! I assume you carry it in 9mm? (from your moon clips comment) I am also interested in the TK clips and wonder how they hold the 9mm rounds. How much do the rounds wiggle and would you say they are very fast to reload? I understand that the 9mm rounds are quicker/easier to reload with MC's (than .357) because they are shorter?
