We Are Not LE- Concealed Carry Man Killed Interceding In A Robbery

The way the story goes so far, the CCW man was held up at gunpoint, gave over his cash/goods and then ran into a barbershop that was also targeted for a holdup to confront the robbers. He killed one, one got away and he was killed for his efforts.

If he sought cover after the holdup and became a good witness, he would have gone home to his family.

Battle of Wanat: 10 years ago last 13 July, 1LT Brostram was killed in combat killing the last enemy combatant in the outpost. The LT went to the point of decision and made the difference that turned the tide of the battle. The original investigation found the Bde Cmdr, the Bn Cmdr and the Co Cmdr at fault for dereliction of duty. A reasonable point. But I think there is a value judgment to be considered in the situation. Should the CCW holder intervene and potentially stop a robbery and hold the perpetrators for police OR take into consideration that his intervention might lead to his wife being a widow and his children growing up fatherless?

A tough decision to be sure.

Since I was not present, I will not comment on what he sensed that caused him to make that decision.

    Facts of life...

If you get into a fist fight, don't be surprised when you're punched.

If you get into a knife fight, don't be surprised when you're stabbed.

If you get into a gun fight, don't be surprised when you're shot.

I think it's important for all who carry a gun to realize there are consequences for using it.

I know what I think I would do, while ensconced here in the comfort of my computer chair, but I do not know what I would do, with a major adrenaline dump coursing through my veins after having been robbed. I pray that neither I, nor any of us, have to find out.

The thread title says it all......we aren't cops. I get where he was comin' from but once the bad guys left him, he was out of it from a SD standpoint. Confronting the robbers after the fact was initiating a confrontation, that pretty much tosses any self-defense claims out the window. If he'd survived, he'd prob'ly be in a legal world of crap right now.
