    My handmade holster

I picked up a poly judge on a smokin deal at rural King this past Christmas and could not find a leather holster that I cared to spend money on so I decided to try and make one myself. I had some veg tanned leather left over from my last motorcycle build and utilized the vacuum sealer from the kitchen. It didn't turn out to bad for my first one.

I've been making holsters for years, and I have to say your food vac idea is brilliant! I usually wet form with my fingers and an edge burnishing tool, then put it between a mattress and box spring for the night. I'd say your idea gets a closer form of the leather to the contours of the handgun. Be aware that there is such a thing as too tight a fit; you want retention, but you don't want it so tight it takes two hands to draw!

Did you hand stitch around the edge? Looks good. You did a nice job.

Nice work. The Vac seal is a very convenient way to get just the right shape. I do see you used the foam backer to keep the plastic grid pattern off the leather. I figured that one out through trial and error myself, errrrr.
