    SD. . . OK. . . AR. . . Corp of Engineers Updates

Biggest news for most will not be South Dakota and Oklahoma passed Permitless Carry but the date they take effect. Numerous reasons I haven’t posted this earlier but the dates the state changes below take effect are in the future.

South Dakota’s Governor signed Senate Bill 47 and on July 1, 2019 South Dakota will be the 11th state (Along with AK, AZ, AR, KS, ME, MS, MO, NH, VT and WV) to allow Permitless Carry for anyone who can legally possess a firearm. Three states have Permitless Carry for their residents only (ID, ND and WY) You can read at the link below. https://sdlegislature.gov/Legislativ...rinted&Bill=47

Oklahoma’s Governor signed HB2597 and effective November 1, 2019 Oklahoma will be a permitless carry state. Oklahoma will be the 12th State to allow anyone who can legally possess a firearm to carry it concealed in Oklahoma. http://webserver1.lsb.state.ok.us/cf...2597%20ENR.PDF

Arkansas Governor has signed SB17 which cut Permit costs in Arkansas in half. $100 to $50 for initial and $50 to $25 to Renew. It becomes effect 90 days after the Arkansas Legislature adjourns which would make the effective date about Aug. 2, 2019 if they adjourn when scheduled. You can read the bill here:
    http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assemb...Bills/SB17.pdf

Corps of Engineers - Got a letter back from my Senator concerning the Corps of Engineers and their policy on carrying concealed firearms. You can read the letter at the link below. They have not changed a thing. You have to ask the district commander for the right to carry your firearm. This was their policy before the lawsuits and remains their policy after the lawsuits. It will take congress to change it. http://www.handgunlaw.us/documents/a...itoCoEInfo.jpg

Thanks for the updates Gary! Stay Safe!!
When people lose their way and begin to vote for their own yokes and chains and suddenly we’re all wearing them, when Government turns tyrannical and the light of liberty is being extinguished.... our 2nd amendment is our ONLY hope.

Some may think this is petty but after all, the letter came from a senator. First line of the text. "Army Core of Engineers." And I know the senator didn't write it herself but whomever wrote it for her got it right everywhere else in the letter.

Ok, rant over. I feel better now.

Not petty at all. Just another example of the poor education many Americans receive. And these are folks in responsible positions.
All the other uses of Corps were quotes from another document. Whoever composed the Senator's letter clearly didn't know, or pay attention to, the correct word.

    I’m gonna take a guess at this . . . . it is ONLY a guess.

US Corps of Engineer projects (such as hydroelectric dams) probably fall into a special category of land “ownership” or “oversight”. Might indicate that your state firearms statutes don’t extend to that particular property. So, if, say, you are visiting a hydroelectric dam while hiking you might have to rethink your travel before going onto the site. Below is an example of prohibited locations from my own state:

Well, a former Senator called a navy medical man a corpse-man, so I guess it goes with the Senate!

The Corps is the main builder of Flood Control Dams in the USA. They buy up all the property to build the dam including all the land the lake will cover and many areas that boarder the lake. Even if they lease this land back to a state to build a state park it still falls under the Corps rules/regs and is off limits to carry except when hunting if hunting is allowed. They usually don't post the lands they own except the buildings and dam site that guns are not allowed. It is a mess and should be cleaned up. Then I remember we are dealing with GOVERNMENT!

Federal park lands and preserves are still good for carry, correct? If so, it does make you scratch your head when it comes to C of E lands.

Thanks Gary, for keeping us on the straight and narrow.
