I Took My Three Hour Class Last Night For CCW Renewal

Qualified with 10 rounds each at 5, 7, and 10 yards. Scored a 30 but the fun was somewhat muted as the instructor told us that if all of the holes were in the 10 ring he would have trouble counting doubles...so he suggested that we spread them out. I compensated with a head shot at 30'. Not as centered as I wanted, but in the black. Pretty informative class with ample time for questions. I filed for the renewal this morning for another four years of security. Had about 14 people in the class.

Interesting, in both Florida and Michigan there is no requirement for any renewal training.. Just pay your $$$$ and you are good to go.. In Florida if you go to a FDACS regional office you will walk out with your new permit in less than an hour.In Michigan the permit is good for 5 years , in Florida it's 7.

I always enjoyed renewal classes, especially the shooting qualification. Now it's just go online, pay your dough, and go. Good for five years.

I am tempted to get an AZ permit, it gives me a few more states.

I'm covered for every state I have any intention to visit. Even your state for car carry, as I pass through en route to Indiana. Many recognize yours already.

Yeah...no class at all here in Bama. (they don't want us to fail)
Permits are $20-100 and good for 1-5 years. Can renew in person, by mail, or online. Must have a new pic every 5 years.

Yeah Virginia only requires a simple online class to get your permit. Emphasis on simple. After that it's $35 every five years. I like it!

+1 on that. The only interstate trip I would take by car and carrying be to Knoxville, TN through (depending on route) AR, LA, MS, AL, then on to Tennessee. All those states have reciprocity with Texas BUT, when travelling I print out the particular state(s) reciprocity agreement with Texas and keep it hardcopy available in the car. That way if I am ever stopped and questioned, I can very clearly illustrate my right to possess a gun in that particular state to the questioning officer. Better safe than sorry and spending an unwanted night in the local pokey.
