In Florida you can also renew online if you can upload a picture and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks. The website even has a photo editor to properly size your photo for the card.

In Texas, since the Texas Dept. of Public Safety is the issuing authority for both driver licenses and concealed carry licenses, they simply use your DL or state issued ID photo on renewals.

^^^ Right, like New Mexico is even capable of using that kind of common sense and logic. ^^^

ILLinois is so sophisticated that they make you upload a photo taken with 30 days so they can do facial recognition with your DL photo...then they use the DL photo on your permit.

Congrats on the renewal! So if you're a very good shot, you'd score low as he can't see your double taps? Did he give you bonus points for the head shot?

We don't have to take a class here just pay renewal fee. We also have constitutional carry so if not leaving state you're good without it (I'd still have the ccw though as it has privileges).

I was surprised when the instructor said that MO residents could not obtain an ILLinois out of state permit. That surprised me as I figured this state would grub for every dollar it could pocket.

Yeah not surprising with that state. For me with Michigan i believe the states that don't have reciprocity most are nearly impossible to obtain a permit in period.

I compensated with a head shot at 30'. Not as centered as I wanted, but in the black. Pretty informative class with ample time for questions. I filed for the renewal this morning for another four years of security. Had about 14 people in the class.
So, which gun did you shoot for qualification and is your ILLinois permit restricted only to it or does it designate a particular gun for your permit?

CZ 75 Compact in 9mm but the ILLinois law states that anything larger than a 22 LR can be used with no restriction on the type of gun carried...except in the municipalities that have 10 round magazine restrictions. Another reason that I favor my S & W Compact Shield in 45 ACP with 6 +1 on the gun and two seven rounders on the side. I don't have to stop and think about where I travel in this Godforsaken state.
