Would you take your gun or not?

I have my concealed carry permit for Iowa.. Went and got certified for the Utah and Arizona permits, but haven't had the funds to send them in yet... Leaving Saturday for a Minnesota vacation, where my Iowa permit is not honored. Debating with myself on whether to carry or not. What say you?

Bottom line is that if it would be illegal to carry I wouldn't risk my rights to carry in my own state or others if caught and convicted over one individual states limitations.

I would however look into that states law on vehicle carry of a firearm. You maybe able to legally carry your firearm in your car just not on your person while out of the vehicle. If this is an option make sure you also research the laws as to non attended securing of a firearm when left in a vehicle.

When I drive over to meet my better half at a LA. casino where I am not allowed to possess a firearm past the parking lot, I disassemble my weapon. I then take the slide with barrel and spring intact with me to the room. Leaving the lower frame hidden in the vehicle with the magazine removed and stashed elsewhere in the vehicle. The sum of the slide and parts are not considered a firearm, the lower frame with the serial number however is. I don't take the ammunition into the building because it is legally an explosive which is also not allowed.

I figure I will respect the rules of the casino as it is posted and legal. I just wish they would respect my wallet and allow me to win a bit more rather than less. Only seems fair doesn't it?

What are you going to tell the cop that arrests you? "Well, all my forum friends said..." If you break the law and get caught, you lose.

At home, where carrying in a posted zone is a misdemeanor trespass charge, if you DON'T leave when ask, I occasionally forget. However, when traveling out of state, I check out local laws and comply. It's one thing to deal with the legal community at home, and quite another to deal with legal issues 300 miles from home.

    Depends.

How far do you live in Iowa past the state line?
How far will you be traveling into Mn past the state line?

What I mean, are you driving 3 miles through Iowa , then 4 miles into Mn to vacation....or will you be traveling across several hundreds of miles through both states?

I cannot carry my gun into several places, but the areas between my house and those places warrant me to carry it until I get to the point I cannot - at which time I secure my pistol in my truck.

What are the laws about having a gun in your vehicle while in Mn? Is Mn an open carry state? Do they have a castle doctrine type laws when it comes to your car? Do you have to have it disassembles and locked while in the car?

I'd hate to leave my gun home, only to need it in the last 3 miles of Iowa because you were stopped at a gas station or somewhere similar when a BG tries to take advantage of you.

Follow the laws, check MN laws and see how you can legally carry in your car. It is not worth possibly being a Felon. When I went to Wisconsin (does not honor Florida) I choose to follow the law and not carry.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting or shooting sports, it is about the citizens of this country having the means to protect themselves and the states from the tyranny, oppression, and misery of an over powering government. Modern rifles are a means for the citizens to stand up to an over powering government.

Carried by six or judged by 12.
A judge once told me that statement.
    Good luck in your choice.

I also agree.not worth the risk. its a shame that trustworthy people that follow the laws can be treated worse than a criminal when it comes to protecting your life.
