    Ist bullet mold

Today I received my very first mold for casting and am getting excited. This is a Lee 356-102-1R two cavity mold I will be using for casting 380auto pills. Can't wait to get started and try this.

I have no doubt you'll like that boolit. I have the same mold and it drops between 102-103 grain and right at .3565" using range recovered lead. I coat them, then resize to either .356", .357" or .358" depending on which pistol I'm loading for. Became my favorite 380 plinking boolit the first time I took them to the range. I found that most of my two cavity Lee molds like to be pretty hot in order to get good results. I use a 6" iron skillet turned upside down over a small burner and set the molds on it for several minutes before I start pouring. Good luck, and be sure to post your results.

funflyer a member from another forum sent me a bag full of these that had been tumble lubed and sized to .356. They shot fantastic in both my 380 Witness and the S&W 380EZ. Actually the EZ absolutely loves them with 2.8gr of HP-38 and 2.8gr of AA#2. The Witness wasn't far off from the EZ. Nice thing is that I can load these up and shoot them all day with out any fatigue.

Casting is a fascinating world become involved in. It gives you so many new possibilities for your ammunition, as well as savings of money. Also a way to expand your skills and - - - oh, the possibilities are near endless. Plus you'll probably enjoy it.

Just remember ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Lead poisoning can be had in more than one way.

You must be careful what you pretend to be, because in the end, you are what you pretend to be.

All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible. Such people have a tendency to become drunk on violence, a condition to which they are quickly addicted. . . . . . . . . . . . .. — Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: Dune

This point cannot be stated too often or loud enough. When I was working for Motorola as a process engineer, I would constantly have to have my head in a wave solder machine using 63/37 lead solder with a positive pressure full head respirator. Even then I had to go through monthly blood testing to check lead levels.

Just an extenuation of the reloading addiction. So the cycle expands.

Shooting feeds the reloading the reloading feed the brass scrounging which will now feed the casting which all feed the forums which comes back to shooting more!

I am going to have to develop a better work area for this new hobby. The small table I set up the other day isn't going to cut it for long. Not enough surface area and too low to the ground. Need this to be at least waist high. May have to locate another kitchen base cabinet.
