My pt709 Slim ( The good,The bad, and the ugly)

    Hello all Taurus lovers.

This is the write up and range report of my new 709 Slim.

I purchased this firearm off of Gunbroker and after FFL transfers fees I paid 270.00 out the door.I love the look , feel ,and the trigger of this gun.I have large hands and it still feels great.

The GOOD (See first attachment) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty , OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO shiney,OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it matches all my accessories.

She ran 138 rounds of Blazer brass 115 gn FMJ flawlessly.I couldn't be happier about how she functioned.I got a keeper.

The Bad (See second attachment)The extra mag sent with the Slim must have been mispunched. It would not insert fully into the magwell .Only 1 working mag made range time go alot slower and I'll be contacting Taurus about this.(The third attachment shows how the mag should have looked like.)

The Ugly(See fourth attachment)My front sight is crooked. It leans to the left like Tower of Pisa. This really frustrates me.There is no way I can look at this lop-sighted (pun intended) thing every time I aim. I'll be contacting Taurus about this.

This firearm is a 4 pin model made on 3/12. I am really happy that it seems mechanically tip top.Though the mag and the sight issues are down right sloppy. If I had paid the top retail price for this item I'd be VERY displeased.

But anyways... I know Taurus will make it right.I hope I won't have to send it south to have everything made as it should be.I am going to really enjoy carrying this gun once all the smoke clears.

Noticed your mags have a yellow follower, My 738's have red. Does Taurus color code all their mags? Very insightful of them if they did.

It'd be interesting to know what other colors they use and if they're keyed to the caliber or model.

I got my 709 slim a few months ago. I really like it. I have to say first time I shot the thing I jumped. Since I had only shot a taurus 38 special before I didn't expect the action, the flash nor the sound.

Have shot this many more times and works great every time. I have found I like my sc9c better. Not near the recoil. Why is it I can shoot dead on with the sr9c but I shoot low left with the 709.

I found the recoil very easy to manage, though I had been shooting my friend's 40 cal Shield that weighs the same. That gun has a good little snap to it.

I have run about 200 rounds of Federal 115gr. through my 709. Thus far, I have only had 3 FTCs upon loading a new magazine. Once I got the springs on my mags worn in, however, I haven't had another problem. I LOVE THIS GUN!!!

I had a P11 for three years. It was flawless. NEver an issue. Was somewhat accurate, but just didn't love it. I sold it to get a 709, and i LOVE the 709. Even though it is slightly lighter, the P11 isn't half the gun!

Congrats on the GOOD portion of your experience, and hope the BAD etc. get moved to the GOOD category very soon. Please do let us know the outcome from Taurus. I have a 709 Slim (just got it), and haven't made it to the range yet.
