I love mine. It's my EDC.

Today, I finally did something about gun violence. I walked into Academy Sports right up to where their guns are displayed and gave them little buggers a good piece of my mind.
Afterwards, they all promised to stay home at night and not commit any more senseless violence.

Already out of stock. Must have been a few stragglers they had in inventory that they were getting rid of.

I missed the deal (out of stock) but, believe it or not, I bought one new a year or two ago for the exact same price, and, believe it or not, I still haven't fired it.

Thanks for posting the great deal, though. Hopefully someone on the forum took advantage of it.

Is Taurus phasing them out? I no longer see them on the website. The 709 Slim is an excellent carry pistol and for the price, an outstanding buy, even at regular price. Adjustable rear sights and pretty accurate!

The absence of the "Slim" series (709 & 740) on the 2019 Taurus website certainly has the earmark of a discontinued model to me. I'm not actively seeking a PT709 but if I were to come across one at an OTD cost of less than $200 I'm pretty sure it would come home with me. With a $170 base price, an in shop purchase would do that but if S&H were added i.e. ordered from wholesaler, I think I'd go over $200.
I paid ~$100 more (base price) for my PT740 back in Sep 2013 (feeding frenzy years). ODT for just over $300. It was a decent price at that time (all things considered).
I agree that the PT709 (as well as the PT740) have great attributes as a carry pistol and wonder why the line was dumped. My guess would be the Taurus plan to get out from their "Lifetime Warranty".

It would appear from the Taurus Website, that the PT709 has been replaced by the new G2s, which is just a single stack version of the G2C.
Glad that I bought my PT709, as the G2s would not make much sense to me, over a G2C or my pre-G2 PT111.

While the G2s may make sense to the Taurus bean counters, sharing a lot of parts with the G2C, the PT709 had a trimmer slide width, which I like.

Given their size, weight and capacity, the PT709 is hard to beat as a pocket carry. Sorry to see the line being dropped.
