I recently bought a Ruger SR22 and have fallen love with this little gun and it's features. I also like my PT145 but I not as comfortable with striker fired guns even though I own a few. Make the PT145 with a double action, hammer, mag safety and decocker and you would have a great carry handgun.

Right, I love the PT145 as what it is now. I might buy the 2nd one in the future.

.452dia That would make a good PT-245 handgun but loose the Magazine safety & get rid of that key lock on the right side of the pistol and put on an ambidextrous safety & Magazine release.....
Half my guns have a hammer. Easier to keep clean. Easier to cock for SA practice.. or whatever.
But my carries are both striker-fired. Hmm.

You can always make it DA only by removing the sear, sear pin, sear spring, link and link pivot. I have to agree with those who don't go for a magazine disconnect. If you inadvertently hit the mag release in the heat of the moment it could spell 'end of story.' To me it's a lawyer safety and I won't own a firearm that has one that can't be bypassed or removed. Each to his own, though.

The key locking feature is there by law some way of locking triggers must be on us weapons when mfg,its just their way of doing it.
745 with a hammer and decock feature made of steel, weight 29-30 oz,not super light, used to carrying a 2 lb radio and tool belt, want the weight they recoil less, just want it small like 745 6 in length, visable hammer lets me know when trigger actually engages and if time permits sa shots.
45 with weight has less felt recoil than a 9mm full size with +P,currently shooting remington hydra shock 165 grain low recoil-412 fpe with no adverse effects out of a jhp 45 hi point, just to large to carry easily.
Love my lil PT22-im impaired physically yet manage to rack and shoot a 45,just dont want a striker fired small or large one in a cc,with no weight.
Certainly not a 21 oz one,A db9 to me is unpleasant to shoot can shoot it once but follow up isnt swift or would I even want to mentally they punish to some degree whats behind them,as well as whats in front.

The magazine safety doesn't bother me one way or another. I like it when teaching new gun owners who don't always know how many shots they have fired. We teach to keep the gun pointed down range, drop the mag and clear the chamber after each stage of the qualification. About every class someone will have a round in the chamber from not firing all there shots or loading more rounds than we tell them to load. It's really scary to see someone trying to holster a weapon with the safety off and their finger on the trigger. No matter how many times we go over the safety rules someone will forget. Most of them are new to guns period and are very nervous. My son and I have started letting only five students on the firing line at a time so we can watch them closely and even at that we have had to sit people down and work with them after everyone else leaves the range.
