Need Your Expertise on Rossi M92 Carbine

    Hello All
Im planning on buying the 92 Carbine, im juggling whether to get the 357 or 44, im leaning way ttowards the 44 as im going to start reloading here shortly.
Heres where i need some advice, im very familiar with Marlin leverguns and not afraid to tear into the actions and inspect, tune, clean, and all the other good stuff we do with are guns.

Is there anything in particular you guys and gals have found as far as particular problems with the 92's i should look for?
Do you recommend these guns for a "Hard Use" gun? I will be looking to take the safety out, change the rear sight to a barrel mounted peep, what else can i do with these as far as tuning, besides cycling the action a Gazillion times .

I just need to know what im getting myself into here as far as quality goes???????

    Any input is much appreciated....

    Thanks alot

As I said in your Intro thread, I bought the Marlin in 44 Magnum last year primarily as I was wanting a lever gun in pistol caliber and it was available in lightly used condition at a fair price. The used lever guns in 357 magnum go very fast at a higher price as they are the most desirable for the CAS. Buying new won't be a factor in that regard.

I really wish that I would have waited for the 357 now. While I set up for reloading the 44 Magnum, everything is more expensive in terms of the components. The recoil was also a big surprise firing factory 44 mags. My thought process also centered around buying a revolver in the same caliber as the rifle. As I already have a Dan Wesson model 15 that would have been taken care of already. When I began to price out 44 Magnum revolvers it was a real eye opener.

I know we have members who own the Rossi lever guns and they should be along shortly.

    Hello Czechbikr

What kind of accuracy are you getting with your rifle? I like my 45-70 and dont feel like it has bad recoil, with the carbine 92 in 44 do you think its fairly harsh with recoil? I am planning on buying tonight so im just trying to get a little grip on things, mainly wondering about the reliable factor with the 92...

I have one in 45 Colt, 20 inch octagon barrel and love it. Did the Steve's Gunz tune to it and worth every cent of the money too.

I haven't enough experience with it yet to make a solid judgment on the accuracy. My indoor range I shot it at is very short (50 feet) and I am not that used to the buckhorn sights yet.

You can find just about anything you want at this site. Tuning info as well!

You'll love your new 92 once you get it. I've changed out the rear site on mine, and eliminated that silly safety on top, with parts from this guy!

    I've got a Rossi 92 and Puma 92 both in 357.
I like the Puma but I put a Red Dot on it.
The Rossi absolutely needs a better rear sight besides the BB gun sights it has.
