Call Rossi. They offered to pay the shipping on my .357 R92 with a bent front sight. I decided to just have them send me a sight so I could install it myself. Sight arrived within five days.
I have been a member here for a few months, lurking and learning about the Rio Grande. Mine is only a month old and with time constraints, has seen little use.
Only reloads have been used to date, with "starting loads", to be on the safe side. As the heading says, 40% fail to fire only discharging after cocking the hammer and trying again. Initially, on the first day out, pulling the trigger would not release the hammer. I fixed that myself and now there are no problems with that. Only the FTF remains.
After the first try out, the sliding safety ing the action was deleted and the firing pin was polished. I thought that would be the end of it but there is obviously something I do not know. The firing pin protrusion is 0.060".
Anybody got any ideas?

I sent in my R92 45LC rifle to Rossi due to it not ejecting out of the box. I got it back in two weeks working fine. I've since done the Steve Young aka Nate Kiowa Jones tune to the gun and love it.

Owning a gun doesn’t make you any more an armed citizen than owning a guitar
makes you a musician.
Buy a box of factory ammo and try that before doing anything to the rifle. I had a similar problem with an old winchester and later found out it was my reloads. They would work in my Marlins but not the Winchester.

Stock up on ammo. We'll have to save ourselves from those who want to save the world.

Thanks for those replies folks and CJS3 is right, my reloads could be suss.
FTF Update
Yesterday was my first chance to try out some factory ammo. The first six went smoothly, without a hitch but of the last six ( I had 12 left over from years ago) 3 were FTF. They all fired on the second try when the hammer was cocked again.
Anyone had any experience with this kind of thing before? I'd like to fix it myself as taking time off to visit a gunsmith is a nuisance.
