Two long guns I wish Taurus would produce...

    Hi, All Tauri-

I've often wondered two things: One-why Taurus has never produced a lever-action (or even pump action would work) 30-30, particularly now with the LeverRevolution ammo out. Two-why they haven't jumped into the AR game, or at least produced something akin to a mini-14 or an SU-16. Any clues, rumors, I seconds, etc.

Who really knows why Taurus does anything they do?

I'm not aware of a 30-30 ever being produced, the current Brazilian website shows a 44-40 Winchester. Check out the Puma and Legacy Pumas (Rossi older production though). 38, 357, 45 Colt, 44-40 Win, 44 Mag, 454 Casull and 480 Ruger.

Here is a link regarding the AR.

Re: Two long guns I wish Taurus would produce...

I have a Rossi lever gun in .357 that tosses a 165 grain gas checked SWC at 1900 fps. That'll do about anything a .30-30 will do to 100 yards and it's a really handy little gun. Of course, the leverlution works for the .30-30 better than for the .357 due to better ballistic coefficient. However, I have a Remington stainless M7 in.308 Winchester that trumps leverlution .30-30. And then, there's my Savage 110 in 7mm rem mag.

My only .30-30 is a single shot pistol with 2x scope, 12" ported barrel. I handload Nosler Ballistic Tips in it to about 2100 fps. If I wanted a rifle, I could always get a single shot Rossi in .30-30 and shoot that same load, or a rifle barrel and stock for my Contender frame for that matter.

I'd love to see Taurus lengthen the Rossi M92 frame and make a lever-action in .357 Maximum and .445 SuperMag. You could still shoot Magnums thru it, (imagine bragging that you use .44 Magnums as plinking loads), or have near .35 Remington and .444 Marlin power.

I wish they would also look at a rifle like the Keltec that shoots 9mm, and also make one that shoots 40 and 45acp as well.

30-30 would be great. Such a versatile round.

Judging from all the CS complaints we hear, I would say Taurus has enough irons in the fire without adding more.

A lever action in .480 ruger or .454 casull would be cool. As was said, Puma chambers for these rounds.
