    Rossi Pump .22

    Hi:
In the late 1970s-early 1980s I purchased for My youngest Daughter and Son Rossi .22 Pump Rifles that I believe were copies of the Winchester Model 62A. The Rossi had tube feed, exposed hammer,Youth sized, and nickeled. Stamped "Made In Brazil".
I don't recall a Model Number stamped on the Rifles.
    Is this Model still manufactured?
    Thanks,
    Jimmy

That was the Model 62 Gallery, later after Taurus bought out Rossi, the taurus name was put on it. The rifle ceased being made early last year. The model 73 was the 22. magnum version. The 62 was made in both the gallery version and the longer version. I have the early gallery version with out the saftey on top of the bolt or locking block and I bought it in 1979. I really wanted a model 73 but waited too long to snag one, at least for a reasonable price. My model 62 is the blued version. They are Winchester reproductions, circa around 1905.

I got the last 22 mag they had locally back in Sept '08. Good gun with CCI ammo but jams horribly with the nasty, dirty old Dynapoints. Henry still makes a nice pump if your interested in new. X

Well, if you bought it in September, you didn't beat me out of the one I had my eye on, as our local Academy in Lubbock had one left right around Christmas. Thanks about the Henry ifo, I didn't know they made a pump. By the way, what part of West Texas. Lubbock here.

    Re: Rossi Pump .22

I bought my grandson a blued 62 as his first gun about 2 years ago. He's a lefty and it was one of the few that didn't eject across his face. Frankly, would have preferd a bolt action but left handed .22 bolt actions are few and far between.. His younger brother is getting a bolt action Winchester (made in Russia) this year.
