Stan, we want pictures of the Rossi .44 magnum single shot rifle, now...![]()
I took delivery today of a Rossi .44 magnum single shot rifle which I had ordered at my local gun shop.It has black synthetic buttstock and forearm.
I mounted a Weaver K-6 which barely cleared the iron sights. When I shouldered the rifle I could not see comfortably thru the scope so I took off the removeable cheek piece and now it is fine.
I bought this to be able to develop some reloads with .In the coming weeks I'll post on this thread my load and range results.

I went to the range today with the Rossi rifle.I am very pleased to say the least with the results I got. After six or eight shots to get the scope zeroed at 25 yards I was just eating the center out of the target. Then I went to a 100 yard target which required some scope adjustment but once again it was getting a really decent grouping.
One thing I did notice was that there was absolutely no vertical stringing as I got the barrel hot. This is good.Stringing is a commomplace occurence with a lot of break open single shots.
I had no problems of any kind with the rifle and I am very pleased with it.

congrats
I have discovered a great load for this rifle.I loaded some 300 grain SWC cast bullets. The Rossi performs wonderfully with this load at anywhere from 25 yards out to 100 yards which is as far as I could shoot at the range I was at.
I'm about as tickled as I can be with the rifle and it's performance.

How is the recoil? I am looking for a rifle for my 11yo daughter to use for deer. She is pretty petite and I think the .243 might be a little too much for her.
bnkrtstk,
The recoil is not bad at all.You can minimize it even further by shooting .44 special cartridges in the rifle which have adequate velocity for deer as long as the deer are not over about 75 yards. You can also load down .44 magnum if you reload.I would NEVER recommend a .243 for any but an experienced hunter.Shot placement is too critical with a .243.
