Thunderbolts are awesome. I much prefer the pump to the lever action. How much did it run you?
I used my C45 Thunderbolt today for CAS (Cowboy Action Shooting) and had a great time with it. I just had one malfunction. One of the shells got stuck under the lift arm so I was unable to shoot my last round so I was giving a miss. But it was the only problem I had with about 48 rounds in a CAS match. I received many compliments on it. I was hitting the 30yard gong while doing rapid shots. Didn't miss a single target besides the stuck round. Wish I could say that about my 1875 Outlaw's. Total of about 10 misses with my Outlaws. But the Thunderbolt fired like a dream. Its a great gun and I sure am glad I bought it, no regrets here. I just had a great time being around other people that enjoyed the sport as much or even more than I do.

I bought my thunderbolt from academy sports for $530 bucks and I couldn't be more pleased. So far i've run about 300 rounds through it and haven't had any problems to report. I would have chosen a different rear sight but the weapon is very accurate with the factory sight. Great fun to shoot. Even slamfired it a couple of times just for a kick. Great gun.

Are these +P rated?
After going through the manual the answer is likely no.
Standard pressure ammo is to be used.
+P COLT ammo is any iffy thing and was only meant to be used in revolvers that are specifically strong enough to use it. For example the Freedom Arms 97 or the Ruger Super Redhawk.
Even Buffalo Bore says that at their site.
This Taurus rifle was made for low pressure Cowboy or standard pressure .45 Colt ammo in mind. Not for using hot rodded ammo. Special purpose guns were made for +P .45 Colt use by other gun makers and those are far and few between.
If that were a .38 Special/.357 magnum you are talking about then +P ammo would be fine.
if you check the description of "+P" .45 colt ammo like double tap from the website I don't think it mentions the thunderbolt but it does mention modern '92 lever actions which rossi makes a clone of.
while most people ask why, I ask why not.
I love my stainless c45, anyone know how many were built? Love to have one in 480 ruger
