Taurus 85UL - was it always +P rated?

I know there are many threads on this +P subject, but I have a very specific question.

Was the Taurus 85 UltraLight originally rated 38 special, until a point in time when it was +P rated? If so, what year was that?

And why it keeps saying "38 special" in the barrel?....and in the manual? Is it because this +P rating means that it is only capable of just occasional handling of +P ammo?

    Thanks

The Taurus® 85UL was introduced in 1997. It has been +P capable from the beginning. Shoot all the 38 Special+P you want.

Agree with badge851 there. The Taurus online manual says these M85 revolvers are +P rated.

If you want there are Buffalo Bore Ammunition | Strictly Big Bore - Strictly Business
.38 Special standard pressure rounds that have +P velocity, but do not have the high pressures and recoil that +P loads have.

Stay away from the hard cast bullet load.
