    44 mag judge .410

i have a 357 mag. however i have been looking for something with more power such as the judge. can anyone tell me why rossi made the judge in a 45 lc that can shoot 410 shells. Wouldnt a 44 mag make more sense because it is closer to the size of a .410. I know that the 44 is actually .43 when the 45 is .451-.452. maybe the 44 mag 410 combo would not work. if so can someone tell me why? however if taurus made one i would have already bought it.

This is answered in other places you posted, Short answer is you are looking at bullet diameter instead of case/chamber size. A 44 bullet is .428 to .432 but case diameter at the base is .457. The 45 colt bullet diameter is .451 to .454 now, but case base runs .480. The base of .410 shells runs .475 to almost .480. This is base diameter just above the rim.

I'm not a guru by any means, have spent a lot of years burning a lot of powder. Cast and swagged a lot of different caliber bullets from sub calibers to shotgun slugs. Wildcats of several calibers, and will be quick to tell you that I am still learning. There are a lot of shooters out there both men and women, old and young that I am quick to listen to and learn from. There are no dumb questions if a person is willing to ask. Can't say the same for some of the answers I have given over the years.
