questions about Mod 85 and 45 colt calibere

What are your experiences with the Taurus 85? Not sure what barrel lengths there are or were. I used to have a 6" 85 that out shot my S&W 14 target 38spl. Does anyone have and shoot this 85 6" barrel length? I'd buy another if I can find one. How about shorter barrel lengths? I see very few 3" and mostly 2". How do these shoot for you guys....how do they hold up? Does anyone have and shoot the titanium 45Colt caliber? It is a 2" barrel model...does it kick a whole lot and does it shoot accurately? Wish Taurus made some smaller revolvers in 45acp

The difference is only that the 85 is a 5 shot snub, smaller frame, similar to the J frame size, and the K frame size 82 hold 6 shots. My 82 is accurate with anything fed it.

Taurus 455 Trackers, in .45 Colt, came in 2,4, or 6 inch barrel lengths. These were made from 2002-2004 only.

There was also during this time a Taurus snub, K framed size snub revolver called the 450 in .45 Colt which would be more for CCW carry than a Tracker would.
There was a Ultra lite model of the 450 as well. Yes, there was a titanium model 450T. 450Ts were made from 1999-2002.

    450s were built from 1999-2005.

Ultra Lite models are 20 ounces and the regular model weighs in at 29 ounces.

Training and proper shooting methods will help contain recoil from these babies.

To get anything smaller in firearm size you'd have go to a derringer size. Bond Arms and few others have that wrapped up. And for their size only 2 shoots.

The patented "Ribber" (no, not "ribbit, ribbit" ) grips help tame the recoil.

I don't own any of the .45 Colt Taurus version, but do own the .44 Special, 431 and 441 models. Those come up in recoil, but are mild and easy to get back on target. With the right loads it should be about the same for the Taurus 450 and the Tracker in .45 Colt.

Thanks Qwiks! I figured there was a limited run of the 45Colts...don't really see them but once in a great while. I have one of those 431's too. Of the ones I sadly sold, I made that did not leave. It's very accurate and the action is smooth as silk, surprisingly since I never had work done on it. I really can't remember for sure about my Taurus 38spl target gun. It was just like the S&W 14 but I thought it was an 85, but maybe not....many,many moons ago. It was another fine gun...one of those I wish I had never sold. Have not found another ...yet. Thanks again!

Only experience I have is w/ the 851. It is the concealed hammer version. Great revolver! Great double action, stiff single action....

Glad to help. Besides big bore revolvers are just fun. Just ask Mr. Taffin at " American Handgunner".

My first Taurus was one of the Trackers in .45LC with a 6" barrel. It was a very smooth
shooting and accurate gun. Even though I got my Raging Bull .44 Magnum by trading it
in, I miss that gun, it was a lot of fun to shoot.

I love my 85 UL. Small, light, accurate as a 2" barrel can be, and reliable. I installed a set of Wolff light springs and a 3-finger rubber grip, too. It's a real sweetie!
