Will Model 80 grips fit the newer Model 82?

Hi folks, I'm new to this forum and pleased to be among kindred spirits ! In the 80s, had a satin nickel Model 66 4" that got away in a horse trade for a 4" Ruger Security-Six. Now looking at both new and used Model 82s trying to find the best deal, seems that the 82 would be a great wheelgun for informal targets/plinking/personal defense.

Back when I had the Mod. 66, I ordered Model 80 wood grips for it thinking they would be an easy fit - WRONG!

I've held on to the Mod. 80 grips since then and wondering if they'll fit a later Mod. 82 with the factory synthetic grips?

Not sure about the model 80 grips fitting the 82.

I do own a 82 SS model and it is a great,accurate,durable firearm.

Aha! Found the answer through Hogue Grips. They say yes that model 80s will fit. It seems the frame size is the same.

Hi if you ever want to part with those new model 80 wood grips let me know just picked up a model 80 and the wood grips were in very bad shape so I put on the Hogue grip I like that fine but would like to have a new set of wood grips just in case .

FWIW, gunbroker.com often has a good selection of used & new revolver grips, might check 'em out.

What oversize wood grips for other revolvers will fit the Taurus model 82 ? S & W ? Thanks, George

S&W wood grips will not fit a new 82, and original S&W woods are too expensive to try to "modify" for an older 82.

Hogues and Pachmayrs for a S&W K and L frame SB will fit the older pin in hammer 82's, but not the newer 82's.
