The 627 is not a snubby, the 617 is a snubby.

I know this has probably been asked but after googling for 2 days now still can't find out if anyone makes wood grips for a Taurus 617 seven shot revolver. Please help

    Re: Grips for model 617?

I looked at all the links that I have for grip makers and don't see any that produce grips for the compact frame. I don't own a 617, but it's on the top of my wish list. Sorry I can't be more help.

Accessory compact ribber grips are available from Taurus that will fit the 617. Here's a link: http://www.taurususa.com/accesories-rgrips.cfm

    Re: Grips for model 617?

The 617 is built on the Tracker frame. That's why you can't find wood grips for it, because so far nobody is making wood grips for the Tracker.

I have a blued 617 that would look great with rosewood grips. I'm still waiting patiently.

    Re: Grips for model 617?

    Can't help but...

I think the model 445 was available with wood grips (walnut I think). The 445 is was built on the compact frame, same as the Tracker. Maybe you could find out where those grips were produced for them. It's a super slim chance but maybe the grips could still be obtainable?

I think the compact frame itself has changed over the years and that is one of the reasons aftermarket wood grips are not available.

Custom grips are available to those who are willing to shell out some coin. The cost is usually so high that it doesn't make sense to spend as much on the grips as the gun.
